While exploring back roads, 4 of us went from pavement to dirt/gravel on our Groms at about 50 mph, at night, on street tires. The road was straight but there was a slight rise where the pavement ended so it was too late to stop when we saw it. That was a small adventure. lol. If there was a "pavement ends" sign, we missed it.

And a later date I came back and explored it farther on my Super Adventure.
 
Are you making fun of me? I ran my VStrom through a mud puddle just last week....
