Yes. I've been extremely pleased with the Evo Adventure bar which you can purchase from Revzilla or can have Motorcycles Unlimited (one of the vendors here) order it for you. The bar is aluminum which is lighter and more durable than the OEM bar. I included this bar in an article I wrote about my KLR build in OutdoorX4 Magazine. Any 7/8" aluminum bar is an upgrade for the KLR. Get the bend and height that you want.
 
I have the protaper on my 2001 and I can recommend it.
