Last minute ride 10-24
Yesterday I was just running around town and sent Landman650r a txt. msg saying..........I wanna ride.........I wanna ride.........I wanna ride...just like the Honda comercial goes. I was thinking of making the ride today, but he called me right up and said lets do it today.
Cool, run home and get the bike ready, change clothes and head to meet up. We meet at Hwy 82 & 87 and head to Sabine Pass. We make it to the beach and start heading West towards High Island. I guess the last front that came through this week on Thursday must have combined with high tide and made for a really big high surf. I say this, because I have never seen the beach so clean. It was like we were the first to ever find the place and ride. All the trash was pushed way up into the marsh and the beach looked like it had been raked smooth. After about 2 miles down the beach we run into all hard rocky ground for about a mile. All the sand had been washed out leaving rough ground to cover. Then we hit the shell road and make up some time. We then, get back on the beach and it is 5th WO to High Island.. Did I mention that I am loving this 650R. Night and Day difference between the L and R. Anyway we are just getting to High Island where the blacktop starts back on the beach and it has really been torn up badly by the surf, so I slow down...then this Tahoe coming at me explodes into red and blue lights. We stop and out comes the Mr. LEO and he just checks to see if we are registered and legal. He was really cool, he even asked if the wacko's and freaks are down the beach. We tell him yes, he can't miss them. I have been on the beach for the last 4 weekends lately and Law Enforcement has been there every weekend. I guess they are starting to patrol more now. Anyway, we go to town to gas up and head back. We stop and take a few pics on the way back. Sorry for the pics. All we had were camera phones. Trey ![]() Myself ![]() Oops ![]() Coming back onto the shell road there is this hole that was deeper than it looked the first time through. So we decided to stop and play in it for a minute. Me coming through ![]() ![]() We are still heading east and come up to this channel. Trey guns it and jumps off it and lands. I see him kick the ground with the right foot and wondered what happened. Then he kicks the left foot down and stops. I thought he broke his foot peg or something when he landed. We are looking and his front tire is flat. No hole or anything in the tire. He breaks out the CO2 kit and inflates the tire back up and it holds for us to make it back home. I don't know what happened. Wierd things just happen sometimes. All in all it was a great day and the R worked just perfect for me. It was really the first real voyage from home. Wanted to go back today and play but got out the sportbike and played. Oh well, there is always next weekend.

Didn't expect him to hit the first puddle so hard.
It was funny though, you can even hear me laughing.

My front tire is still holding air today...Seriously have no idea how it went that flat? We should get a run together sometime again when its cool...The beach is very confortable at 70-75 degrees. Mosquitos still sucks Oh, and sorry about that mud shower LOL. Thats payback for all the roost I ate behind your 650r this time!

Re: Last minute ride 10-24
Ya know if there was ever an area to really tear things up, it's gotta be here. Probably my most memorable moment was jumping down off the clay ledge in between tides and then fighting my way back up once another fast moving tide was on me. Yeah little two foot clay ledge...hah, hah, try it while your being pounded!!
