Well done. Respect for the elderly and others in general is a disappearing thing
 
Those little jumper batteries are amazing. I drove a 1950 six volt flathead V-8 Ford while in high school. It's 40 pound, lead lump of a battery was always marginal. But then, the whole car was marginal :)
 
So many on the market ... how about a motorcycle friendly user review on which ones to look at which ones aren't so great.
 
If the Vette. had not started quick, how long do you guess you could crank on starter with little battery pack? I have scoffed at the small battery packs till I saw your video. What brand is yours?
 
I snagged one off of Amazon a year ago and with no battery in my Dodge truck started it 12 times before it started to show slow cranking.

I did that as I bought it for our daughter who is away in college and wanted to make sure if she had issues it could start her little Jeep Liberty several times

My brother works in the oil industry so i wanted something that could start larger engines also. Since he is out in the middle of nowhere a lot . So after seeing this video I bought one for him and myself....

Its been over 3 months since i check the charge on the jump starter. So after jumping the vette i took it in to see if i need to charge it and it was still about 9/10th full. So could have jumped it more than a handful of time easily...

I`m a believer in them. A couple of years ago we were in Moab and went to leave and my diesel would not crank and it was about 40 degrees. A guy was camped next to us said wait I have something, and went and got his jumpstarter. Of course I was skeptical but he hooked it up and i`ll be ****** if it didn`t crank it right up. Needless to say off to town in the rain for a new battery.. I think it was a POD X-5, and made to crank diesel`s. I would have never of believed it if I hadn`t seen it..

Good for you. It also comes in handy when I'm out on a ride and my Scala gets low on battery. When i stop to get something to eat i just hook the Scala up to it and let it charge for a bit.
 
The little LI-Ion jump starters are pretty amazing pieces of technology. I picked up the one linked below about 3 years ago now. It's been all over the country with me all over the Ntl Forests of SOCAL and on work days I keep it in the Fire Engine with me incase we run across someone that needs a jump.

It's been great and I picked up one that was multiuse. It will not only jump start things it will charge a laptop, cell phone, tablet ect. My favorite use for it isusing it to run a string of 12V LED camping lights when camping. Gives me the flexibility to place the lights anywhere and it will run the lights for multiple nights. I can also plug it into the 12V outlet of the bike when riding around to recharge the battery pack.

The biggest thing I've jumpstarted with it is a Mercedes Diesel and it did that with no problems. You can crank a bike for quite a long time on one.

It shows the one I bought as being unavailable but there are lots of options out there that are similar. IIRC mine cost about 60 dollars.

I tried the NiCad vesion of the jump starters https://10carbest.com/best-jump-starters and was not happy, same with the motorcycle battery type. Only the wet cell battery holds a charge over several months, the Li-ion type be fine as far as holding charge. BUT... Even when a battery holds a charge the small ones are often not up to the task of starting with a totally dead (headlights left on) battery. The small batteries just don't have the capacity, so I would revert to using jumper cables to start from a running vehicle. I eventually decided the best utility was to have heavy duty Marine type batteries with a good charger. This way it does double duty as power outage backup with an inverter, as well as mobile/home jump starting. The only downside is I don't have an extra battery with me when I am out and about, but 90% of the time there are other vehicles or I can call for wife to come help with jumper cables. At home a Marine battery is heavy but easy to use for jump starts and has massive capacity for hard starts. Overall I think the battery charger will give you many more years of service for both car and home use, especially if your primary car starting issue is cold starts at home. If primary issue was dead battery in remote location then the jump battery would be a better idea. The mention of Lithium batteries makes me think of all the 18V cordless tool batteries I have. Anyone know of anything that makes use of cordless tool batteries to directly power USB, cigarette lighter plug, AA charger, etc? Not to jump a car battery but for other low wattage 12v jobs.I suggest you to watch an interesting video on this topic from Youtube
