I'm not someone who uses a tank bag all the time but I do enjoy the extra space on longer trips. The elcheapo freebe that was given to me years ago is about to be relieved of it's duties. It served me well but needs replacing.

I do not want one of the great big ones that will hold a case of beer and a weeks worth of clothing. I'm looking for something that I would consider "medium-large", magnetic, map window and a couple of outer pockets. The Nelson-Rigg Classic CL-350 would be perfect but apparently they stopped making those.

Any suggestions on something close to that in size and layout? It will mostley be used on my FJR.

thanks, D

I had a Cortech Super Mini (still do but with my new bike and plastic tank I have it strapped to the back as a tail bag) that did fine for day trips. When a model is discontinued it's usually replaced by an updated version so keep looking. This place has a lot to choose from:

I have a Nelson-Rigg that is several years old. Looks like they don't make mine any more either, but the bag I have has been great. I would not hesitate to buy another one of their products.

I have an Icon. It's a medium size, non expandable and I like it a lot.

Depends on what you like. Even the so-called "medium sized" tank bags drive me crazy - I just feel too crowded with them in front of me. So I usually fall back on this little fellow (see link below). It's small, but in fact it holds a an SLR camera, tripod, bottle of water, paperback book and phone. And the two tiny pockets on the top will hold MP3 players, etc. It has a small map pocket. Like all of them it has a rain cover. It's also small enough to comfortably carry into a gas station or restaurant. After three years it's sun-faded, but still works just fine.

I have the following:

It only has two pockets though; the main compartment and a small front zipper pocket (for keys & wallet or MP3 player I would guess). The main compartment holds a nice amount of stuff (extra visor, water/camelbak, book, snacks etc). It also has a map window pocket. No rain cover is provided. My only complaint is the zipper can sometimes jam.
