Adventure Rider Breakfast Series - 2/25/17 - Backyard Bistro + 2 day ride option

Good day, great ride! Thanks to Ivan and Fred for following me and allowing me to get us 'misplaced' a couple times via GPS (it said "Turn Right" so I did....shades of the GPS episode on The Office!)

Once my butt stops vibrating, I'll think about whether or not I'll do it again next weekend.

Sander, I suppose the Saturday route will remain the same as today?

McRuss, that's funny.

JT and I really enjoyed the day. Thanks Sander, you sure know how to throw a route together. Really liked that county road 412(I think). I launched the 690 over a cattle guard and we FLEW! I mean, we shoulda filed a flight plan, that's how long we were in the air. Lol Great fun.

We made it to Junction, grabbed a sandwich there and took a leisurely route back to KV. Great day in the saddle.

Russ,

For me it will.

However, below is an alternate Saturday route using a lot of the Saturday Brady route from November.

What was is part of that route like? - Click Here

For those worried about gas, we did go off route near Frederickburg for gas on the November ride.

It was a perfect day for a ride, got home just as the sun set with 316 miles on the odometer. I was so tired I was asleep by nine and slept nine straight hours, it's **** getting old. Thanks Russ for the lead and Fred for the company. The pace was just right for me. See you guys soon.

Once the fog burned off, one could see there was quite the turnout. Included three WR250R's. Nice to ride with Team 250, and take the time to enjoy the sights. Wish I had the time to continue on Sunday, but maybe rinse and repeat next weekend.

Agreed with the other comments- what a fun ride it was Saturday. I turned towards N Austin in London and made it home just before dark so in retrospect it appears that was a good decision.

Took me about 2 hours to clean the bike yesterday- it had 4 or 5 different types of dirt, dust, and mud from top to bottom. In my book that's evidence of a good variety of terrain.

It was great meeting you all and I look forward to another ride sometime soon!

To those that stayed overnight in Menard how was the ride back Sunday? Wet?

Only from the numerous water crossings going to Barksdale! Two methods were tried (these were not the slick concrete variety, 50 yard wide gravel/rock with 6"-15" of water). The feet down, paddle, rear wheel spinning, and the Txmudtaco 3rd gear banzai. His method guarantees a good soaking.

Sander, I just figured out I'll be free this weekend and would like to come along also.

Trying to decide to hotel or camp. I would like to camp, but either is ok. Are there any other campers that you know of?

13 of us decided to gamble (many of us Sidewinders M/C)and make the trip to Menard last weekend. The weather was perfect with no rain. Great route and the ride back from Menard between Rocksprings and Barksdale was the most fun (although the numerous bump gates were tiring). Several wide river crossings but not too deep.

I can't remember if this was Sat or Sun... not that it matters.

Only three of us camped at the camprounds in Menard. Matt, Mike, and I found a secluded spot away from all the other campers, down by the river's edge. The weather was so nice, I didn't even set my tent up.

I wound up having to work
Last weekend but am off this one! It is looking like I may get to be off Friday
Having issues with my old BMW navigator garmin loading the routes in gdx format
For a tech guy sometimes the tech kicks my rear! All I have is the USB programmer for the unit so I think that may be part of the issue

JT and I enjoyed Saturday's route. This is the only pic I took all day.

Ranchers do indeed, still string up coyotes. Don't know why--I don't think a bounty is paid for them anymore.

Had another ride previously planned last weekend, but I am free and looking forward to making this overnighter this weekend. I plan on camping, hammock if possible. The weather looks good, hope I can find someone who knows the route that I can follow. See you at the Bistro. - Bill
