Would U wanna ride and eat here???

Ok, this is a long shot I know but I used to frequent riding up FM4 to Palo Pinto and hanging out and eating at the Palo Pinto cafe which is basically on the intersection of FM4 and 180 in Palo Pinto.... of course that was only while it was open which wasnt for very long. Im posting a poll and would like to know some honest opinions on whether riders would 1. want to ride to this location and 2. eat at this establishment? This place has been for sale for quite some time and I enjoy riding around this area as the roads are great and low traffic for riding and its a peaceful and nice place to hang out no matter which direction your coming from. A few other riders I know said they agree thats theres no place out there to just ride to and eat lunch and hang out. Ive got this off the wall idea about possibly opening this restaurant so I really want some honest opinions along with ALL suggestions on what you would like to see at a place like this and what will attract you to it? Thanks much and happy riding

I like the PK area. A good base of operations might include cabins, camping, fire pits, and maybe even some sponsored rides to get the word out. Serve pie and we'll make you famous. Team up with someone who rents or charters boats on PK and you could have a ride and boat weekend package.....or with someone who has river access to a swimming hole.

Wife and I ate there several times and always enjoyed it ... Disappointed when we rode up one day and found it closed. Got a burger across the street, and were hungry enough that it was almost good.

It would be a great day trip for me, 500 or 600 miles. I hope someone does open the place

Re: Would U wanna ride and eat here???

I chose maybe. Looks like about 600 miles for me roundtrip. I would like to say yes, for sure, but scheduling that may be difficult, but I would like to.

I voted yes but you would have to take down those dangly things on the porch eaves. Start by serving sandwiches and a good burger if you're wanting a lunch crowd. Oh, and pie. You have to have pie.

And you'd have to repaint the roof as one big Texas flag.

Yeah, do your best to make it look like 1,200 other places.

I voted maybe... long ride to say 100% yes or no since I've never rode in that area but would like to.

Re: Would U wanna ride and eat here???

I ate there a couple times for lunch. I liked the food, and the wait staff were attractive. The cafe in Graford is ok. I liked the burgers at the Humdinger that was short lived in Perrin.

If you open it, I'll tell some guys that work out there.

I would do it...the only other option really is Mary's in Strawn when you make a ride out that way.

Hire competent people who can run the place without you for a few hours while you're out riding.

I'll eat anywhere. Riding to get there is just that much better.

I'd be really careful about opening it back up. Obviously, there's a reason it closed down.

Re: Would U wanna ride and eat here???

It's called the restaurant business for a reason. Balancing labor, food cost, and weeknight volume with Friday night volume is a real test of most owners. I do not recommend hiring management. You didn't say if you have food experience, but, unless you do, be very careful. It isn't about good food. It's about business.

Re: Would U wanna ride and eat here???

I know reality would prevent me from visiting your place often but I think it's great to follow a dream if you've got the chops to back it up. I spent some time in the food service world and it is a balancing act for sure, even when you're in a very populated area. If you have open eyes, I'm sure you could make a good go of it. The place has a ton of character! And we are a hungry lot.

(Maybe neighbor Denton Don would be kind enough to ride very slowly and let me follow him out some time )

Re: Would U wanna ride and eat here???

I would. It's a nice ride from Fort Worth, and supporting a fellow biker would be a great excuse to go. But I'd be careful of pinning hopes on bike riders as they are such a small percentage of the population. A poll like this is only useful for giving yourself permission to do what you want to do anyway.
