Not a bike trip, but a getaway nevertheless. My niece came to the house & looked after my mother so that my wife & I could get away for 5 days. We went to our favorite Texas springtime spot, Daingerfield State Park.

Home for the next 5 days, 4 nights.

The road in & out of the park is picturesque.

Little trailers are definitely in vogue this year.

Far out, dude!

I walked a lot, but my wife brought her work with her. She makes & sells crocheted children’s hats, & is working on a special order for a children’s leukemia benefit.

Here’s a new addition since the last time we were here. The top row was mostly Harlequin novels, & the rest were children’s books. Good idea.

We timed it right for east Texas wildflowers. The Indian paintbrush was just starting up.

Daingerfield has the best crimson clover I’ve seen south of the Red River.

The ubiquitous daisy.

Daingerfield is a great place to view dogwoods. They didn’t really have a very good year, but still…

For some reason, there were no ducks, geese, or swans at the lake for several years. Glad to see them back.

A pair of cardinals used our campsite for their courtship ritual.

Speaking of couples, also spotted these two.

It was cold most of the trip, but we had one warm, sunny day. The turtles took full advantage.

Addison’s Walk? No, just the backside of the lake.

How the heck do trees grow like this???

And, the end of a day. Sunset over the cove behind the campground.
