I got out ahead of the rain this morning and went up to Frisco to pick up 3537. Swung by Rockwall on the way home and picked up 3549. So you can take those two off the missing list.

Now if I can get a day free to run up to Texarkana and pick up 3527.
 
Why is 3408 cancelled (or some of the others)? Google Maps shows it in La Salle County. I know some of these roads are no longer listed as FM roads... Are these other roads ones that have no signs?

You can look up the current status of the road here:

Generally, if it is listed under cancelled, the state has said its cancelled. If it's under not listed as a FM, we've ridden it and didn't find a sign or we've got some other documentation that says its not signed as an FM.

FARM TO MARKET ROAD NO. 3408

From IH 35, 2.0 miles south of Cotulla, southeastward a distance of approximately 4.5 miles. (La Salle County) (New Description) By request of local authorities the designation of FM 3408, made by Minute Order 073454, is cancelled. FM 3408 relocated.

Sometimes roads are re-designated as a FM, but the county takes a long time to put up a sign or they never get around to building the road. You have to research each road.

FARM TO MARKET ROAD NO. 3540

Minute Order #110161, dated 07/28/2005; DesLtr 03-2005, dated 09/30/2005

From 0.073 mile east of CR 4223 eastward to SH 135, a distance of approximately 2.10 miles. (Cherokee County) New Designation.

From a county commissioner's court minutes this year: "Plans have been in the works for many years for Lake Columbia to be built along Mud Creek, which FM 2064 crosses. In advance of construction, a new Minute Order was commissioned in 2005, to reduce the mileage of FM 2064 to 5.6 miles (9.0 km). This change will affect the road by splitting it in two, and its intersection at the current southern terminus at SH 135 in Tecula, will not connect to the shortened FM 2064 afterward. Therefore, the future installation of the separate FM 3540. Construction on the lake has not yet commenced, so signage and length of FM 2064 has not yet changed to reflect the 2005 Order for FM 3540

This one just got finished and it was approved in 1987.

FARM TO MARKET ROAD NO. 3486

Minute Order 085746, dated 04/30/1987; Adm. Ltr. 010-1987, dated 10/07/1987

From SH 34, approx. 6.0 miles northeast of Terrell, northwestward approx. 2.6 miles to FM 986. (Kaufman County) New Designation.

FROM TXDOT last year:
In an ongoing effort to enhance state roadS, the Texas Department of Transportation is kicking off a project to convert County Road 322 into a two-lane Farm-to-Market road between FM 986 and State Highway 34. The new road will be named FM 3486. The road will establish connectivity of the state highway systemin the northern part of Kaufman County. The $4.8 million contract for the construction of this project was awarded to Ed Bell Construction Company. The work zone is expected to be established in mid-July.

I don't think we will be able to pick up 3530. It does seem to exist but there don't appear to be any signs. It only goes a couple of dozen feet then you are in the prison facility. You can find it at these coordinates on Google maps. 32.937106, -95.281394

If the weather holds I'm going to try to head up to Texarkana to pick up 3527 Easter Sunday. I'll go by 3530 on the way so I will give it a look.

Yeah, I'm thinking there won't be a sign there.

3505 is not that far north of IH 30 at exit 127.
 
Yeah it's just outside of Lake Cooper State Part. To far north of my route on Easter to pick it up then. Will plan a ride up that way when I get a chance. Probably about 2 1/2 to 3 hour round trip from my place so not a big problem.

Okay... so I guess if it's marked as cancelled I should just ignore it and try to find some of the others.... Is that that about right? :)

That's right and for the most part, if they are marked cancelled, they aren't signed as a FM any longer. This isn't an exact science so it doesn't hurt to double check a road with the TXDOT Designation file. Unfortunately for you, we're coming to a close of the game--We've been chasing roads for 11 years now.

That 3408 is an odd one, usually when a FM is cancelled it's because it is relabeled as a state highway or loop.

Cancelled. (Bell County) Section of approx. 3.0 miles, from US 190 northward to FM 439, transferred to SL 121.

Did not get up to Texarkana today. Robin and I started up there this morning and had only gone about 30 miles when she had problems with her bike. Left it in a parking lot and doubled up to my house to get my truck and trailer. Went back and picked it up and took it to her house. By the time we got it unloaded and I went back to my house and put the trailer away it was after noontime. To late to head out again for Texarkana especially with them calling for rain up that way late afternoon and evening. So I will have to try again on another weekend.

Not a total wasted day though. Since it's only about a 3 hour ride up to Lake Cooper State Park I ran up there to pick up 3505. Found the road OK but was about to give up on finding a sign. Went all the way up the length of it and finally found one sign. It's on the south bound side just after you leave the state park road.

So you can put 3505 on my list of signs.
 
Made the run up to Texarkana and picked up 3527 today.

On the way I stopped by Winnsboro and checked to see if there was a sign for 3530. Glad I did. Seems Google Maps is out of date on this one. They have built it through all the way to FM 852 so it goes more than the few hundred feet Street View shows. Has full signage too so I also picked it up.

That gets two more off the missing list.
