Little different competition

TORCS is running a sprint enduro series over the summer. I'm going to try Saturday and see what I think.

Yes sir, I've never done one of these so I could be a hair off but nothing like a TORCS race other than being on trails.

It will be 2 separate courses that you'll run 3 loops. You'll do one, get a drink, catch your breath and so on. All on the first course. Then there will be a second run on the other course, same format. Your score, "time" will be the total of all runs accumulated. Best thing is, this format is great for riding in the heat and second, there is not a group start, single rider at least 10 second apart.

My understanding, one course fast and open, the other more technical. I'm thinking 5-8 minute laps, but definitely not sure about that.

Hope this helps.

Re: Little different competition

Good luck Rob. The heat would kill me unless there was something with AC to get in between runs.

Re: Little different competition

Gil Ramos 45-60 minutes depending on your skill level. I’m new to this discipline, so I’m not sure. I’ve laid out a fast grass track(cross test) , and a relatively open woods loop(Enduro test).
I will be learning with all of you, but I promise we will be in the ballpark of a typical Sprint Enduro

Re: Little different competition

Next flyer for sprint enduro. Looks like most enjoyed the first round. Looks like most got 40-45 minutes of seat time over the 6 laps. In this heat, your call if that is enough for you. I chose not to make the drive myself.

They did back everything up an hour for this next round to help with the heat. This is at the McMahan Ranch in Smithville. I raced the enduro back in the winter on this property, very fun. It is a highly regarded property not open to regular riding. You can compete on either or both days. In the first round Saturday had the higher attendance.

Re: Little different competition

Some good youtube stuff is up. Google is your friend. Look like the trail marking was a little sparse.

It's TORCS, not unusual.

Re: Little different competition

Kind of a cool deal. Seems a bit more loose and your not as hurried as a hare scramble. Just line up early to beat the heat!

I did an enduro serveral years back at hidden falls. It was kind of odd as they laid out the loops with a hub in the center. You had to know where to be and at what time. With the Sprint you can do the loops in any order (at least with the format I have seen). The ones I've seen is you do X number of loops at any time you want. Like 3 loops and the C guys do them twice and the A guys take an extra loop or two. Loops are all like 5 to 7 miles or something like that. You line up and they click you off in minutes. You're logged in and out for the time. Kind of a free flowing and cool concept.

Re: Little different competition

Beautiful property and great owner, lucky to be able to ride there. I am sure it was a learning experience for all. My issue was the late starting time in intense heat, I just can't take that anymore. Start should have been around 8am as is typical of an enduro. I'm ready for October.
