AUSTIN: Austin TARA: Monthly ride

Well, plans have changed and I can't make the ride tomorrow. I need to work on the barn in Johnson City, installing the A/C. Stop by and say hello if you can. Mike

I'm planning to meet up with the group at the intersection of Fitzhugh and RR12, see ya then.

In!

Anyone have a spare speedometer cable for a gen2 KLR 650? My cable housing unscrewed itself on I-35 last week and then no more cable. Will trade for cash.

Cable or no, I'm still showing up.

Right now where I live it's cloudy and slightly damp, but doesn't appear to be raining. I live down the street so I'll be showing up regardless.

Fun day on the bike. Glad to see everyone.

I had a great time.
The twisties were better than Tail of the Dragon and the Three Sisters combined.
thanks Richard.
It was good meeting everyone.

Fantastic extended ride yesterday with great roads and route. I didn't take any photos but I'll put up a short video soon.

Does anyone have a map of the extended route? I'd love to hit it sometime on a bike that isn't the Rebel :)

The first Saturday Austin monthly ride is this weekend.

Our March ride is the Willow City Loop course and includes the first dirt of the year (Sandy Creek). My guess is that with the amount of rain we've had over the past few weeks that there will be water at the 2 low water crossings over Sandy Creek. This month's course is 139 miles in length and is suitable for any dual sport/adventure bike.

I recommend grabbing lunch at Oli's Kitchen in Round Mountain on the loop back. Gas is available from the convenience store next door to Oli's.

Hey Richard, I think I will actually be free this coming Saturday and would love to see if I can ride anymore. With any luck I will see you this coming Thursday at twin peaks and again this Saturday!

+1 for Oli's. JT and I were impressed with this place.

Sadly, I'm pretty sure I will be working Saturday:'(

Sound great. I'll review the route and try to figure out the best place to hook up with the group.

Is this route "ADV" bike friendly? or would a Smaller bike be a better choice?
Keith, do you know where you are meeting the group? I am leaving from Bulverde area if I can make the trip.

OOPS, just reread the description. I will try it on an ADV bike. What the heck

I'm going to hook up with the group just past Johnson City at 1323 and 281. I'll get there around 9:30 - 9:45.

To my understanding, the route crosses 281at FM962, abit north of 1323

I'm pretty sure 962 is on the Route back home. Richard, can you confirm this?

Yes, that is correct. We are riding 962 back to Austin.

For the ride out in the morning, Kman's best bet is to intercept us at 281 & 1323.
