Sold - 01' Honda XR400
01' Honda XR400
Purchased this XR4 from a fellow TWT member about 2 years ago. Have taken several nice trips to Big Bend, New Mexico, and Moab Utah. It's a really solid low hours bike and the quintessential trail and fire roads moto in my opinion. I did the street legal conversion and have a clear Texas street title in my name. The plates and inspection are expired and current tires are non-DOT Bridgestone Enduros ( DOT tires are all it lacks to pass inspection). A trip to the tax/title office will take care of the rest. I went through this XR4 front to back and took care of any maintenance and wear issues. Replaced all the wheel bearings, steering bearings, fresh brake pads, fresh brake fluids, fork oil, etc. Installed a DID ERV gold chain and new sprockets, new throttle/clutch cables, all new Honda factory plastics, ProTaper CR HI handlebars, Acerbis hand guards, custom built 18/21 black Excel wheelset! Sure I'm overlooking some things still. Runs great and is always easy to start when the procedure is followed. I have had no reliability issues or any issues at all with this XR4. Lots of good adventures left in this awesome moto! I can help deliver to new owner. $2200 obo. SOLD ![]() ![]()

Re: 01' Honda XR400
Very nice. I used to have one set up as a motard that I ran on the street. I NEVER had a single problem with it.
Few quick questions, can you confirm the wheel sizes since you mentioned custom? I am curious what road oriented DOT options are available. Avon Distanzias in particular. Is the street legal conversion home grown, or a turn key kit like Baja Designs? Is the suspension stock or modified, if modified what weight is it set up for? Are you open to any trades? Sorry for all the questions. I am missing having a tard/dual sport and looking for possibly options. GLWS.

Re: 01' Honda XR400
They are stock rim sizes 18/21. I used the DOT Bridgestone Gritty series enduro tires when I got her inspected and legal. They were great tires too but when I wore them down I just replaced with non-DOT thinking the chances of being called out by authorities would be slim to none. Besides I was using it on dirt roads 90% of the time.
I did the street conversion with my own parts, not a kit. It doesn't take much to get one legal in Texas ![]() Forks are stock but have fresh oil and I think I even did the seals too! No looking for trades at this time. Moving out of state this winter and need to lighten up the load. Thanks! Chuck |

Re: 01' Honda XR400
Very nice, I already bought a Husqvarna dual sport or I would be all over this. I will pass it on to some friends.

Good buy for someone I would not sell mine for that it is too good of an
all around bike.
