Re: Lubbock Extreme SaddleSore

I might be interested in something like this for the DFW area...when I get a bike that I trust to do a SS1K. I barely trust it to get me to and from work now.

He froze his tushy off in the cold part of the state, ate a bee near Flagstaff and got stung on the inside of the lip, rode through pelting rain near Wickieup by holding his hoodie in front of his face with his left hand.

If he could do all that, your 2012 883 shouldn't have a problem.

But did he do it up hill, in the snow, both ways?

If you're really adventurous you'll go south of the border to do your first SS1K. The Asphalt Rats will be hosting another one in July in Michoacan. IBA certified.

Were you showing him the most painful way to complete a SS1K??
IBA doesn't give extra points for extreme suffering or arduousness do they?

This is looking more appealing, even though one might to cough up $250'ish for toll fees. It is close to the most ideal location in Texas.

Turning around right after Georgetown: there are several options. You can take the FM 971 turnaround and get back on 130 on the other side, or proceed to IH-10 North and exit at down do a turnaround near 190. There is also a 24 hour gas station there (Berry Creek Truck Stop at 3800 North Interstate 35 Frontage Road)).

Then at the southern end of 130, you exit at highway 90 right before 130 ends and loop around to get back on 130 north. The only gas station at this portion requires a 3-4 mile detour to Seguin.

I'll measure the 130 loop with the extra turns soon.

Well it isn't so much that the age of the bike or style is of concern. More the fact that I have had more trouble with keeping this bike out of the service department for warranty work than with any other bike I have owned.

Other than that, when do we start. I am always down for a little adventure.

That was just his thing. He did learn a lesson with the bee sting and the rain though.

Y'all might want to have Bill give you the lowdown on what the witness requirements are before you get too involved in planning this.

You have been (UN)officially hired as the ride captain.

...this is getting more interesting. It might be fun to have multiple groups in a staggered start...say 15 minutes apart. Can we set an IB1000 participant record?

Cheers,

RB

That is just lucky... think about it... the odds of you driving under a pine tree that reached over the road, in the exact moment a breeze or squirrel knocks the pine cone from a branch, at the perfect timing for you to smack it with your face...

Hopefully it didn't hurt too bad

Lol. It hurt pretty good. It was one of those big north Carolina ones. I had a pretty good cut on my face. It looked like I'd been punched.

Nope, y'all are on your own for this one. I'll sit back and watch, although I could be persuaded to be a witness if this is held next Spring.

The current record for a mass SS1K is 390 riders (Redwing 19). I'm pretty sure that there aren't that many hard core riders within the TWT ranks. In addition, the more riders you have the harder it will be for the witnesses to verify that each of them passed the verification points.

Here's the info on the Redwing 19 ride...
