sensor on bottom of harley softtail

Anyone know what this thing does? it looks like a sensor, dangling from the bottom of a harley softail classic 2011.

and it's not supposed to be dangling like that. I'd tie it up/off. any damage to that may just harm the electrical system for the whole bike.
 
thanks, yeah, i ziptied it to a bracket. wondering what it does, if anything. might just be a vestigal unused plug, as suggested.
 
That could be the infamous TLC sensor, if it's not polished on a regular schedule it increases the noise supply and puts a limiter on the revs to slow the bike even further. Once it's been activated there is no known fix for the problem you will just have to put up with it. ;-):mrgreen:
 
OOOOO does it have three wires?
there is a unused plug under Harleys that is used on international bikes for a interlock switch on the jiffy stand that is not on domestic bikes.

There's your answer. Generally they're tucked up and well hidden, looks like yours came loose. Just ziptie it up out of the way.
