Meet & Greet and Monthly ride

The first monthly meet & greet and the first monthly ride of the Austin TARA chapter occur on Thursday, March 2nd and Saturday, March 4th, respectively. I have posted notices for both events in the upcoming rides section of the dual sport forums here on TWT.

Meet & Greet: The very first meet and greet of the Austin chapter of the Texas Adventure Riders Association (TARA) will occur on Thursday, March 2nd, 6-8 pm, Loganís Roadhouse, 701 E. Stassney Lane, Austin, 78745

Please join us in getting our Austin chapter off to a good start.

Ride your motorcycle if you want. Drive your car if that works better for you.

The main point is for us to get together, make new friends, visit with old friends, and talk about dual sport adventure motorcycling.

We will meet in the parking lot of Loganís Roadhouse on Stassney Lane in south Austin and kick tires, tell war stories, and enjoy a meal. We are a friendly bunch and all are welcome to join us.

There is no cost to attend, other than what you spend on eating and drinking.

Feel free to come early or stay late.

Monthly Ride: The first monthly ride of the Austin TARA (Texas Adventure Riders Association) Chapter will occur on Saturday, March 4th.

We will meet at 8:30 am in the Planet Fitness parking lot, 7100 W. US Hwy 290 Service Rd, Austin, 78736. Stands up at 9 am. Please have a full tank of gas when you show up.

There is a Jimís restaurant next door Ė come early if you want to eat before we leave.

The ride will take us west into the heart of the hill country and includes the beautiful Willow City Loop. The planned routes include both paved and off-pavement riding and is suitable for any street-legal dual sport adventure bike.

The route is 140 miles long. You will need a minimum of a 100 mile range on a single tank of gas.

You can download the route gps files here.

In! For the ride anyway. Doubtful I can make the meeting, darn it.

Thanks, Rich

Well, it looks like the Austin chapter is off to a flying start. The Logan's Roadhouse is closed down. We are going to meet at the Twin Peaks next door, 701 E Stassney Ln, Austin, TX 78745.

Bikers at Twin Peaks? That doesn't bode well either.

How was the turnout? My daughter is in town visiting so I was hanging around the house.

Re: Meet & Greet and Monthly ride

7 total showed up for the inaugural Austin meet & greet. Twin Peaks has a nice, outside, covered patio section that we sat in and which worked well for our needs.

Yup, it was great to meet new people, learn a bunch of stuff I didn't know about GPS and other things important to adventure riding, and just enjoy a break from the daily routine.
