GS can do!

Well that sucked...On the way to work this morning. Spare wheel with new tire was hot shotted to me via my pit babe. Thanks TD...

You're running tubes on your Dakar? That should be a 5 min plug and go roadside job with a Slime pump and tubeless tires.

From the looks of it, that might be a bit to big in diameter for a plug... :ponder:

It's the way it came. But it's not the way it's gonna stay..

Just a few more and you would have a studded snow tire. Look on the bright side, we don't get much snow around here. ;-)

Nah that's only the nail head. Looks like a standard big headed roofing nail. One sticky string plug required only I bet.

I gave up on those cone shaped plugs. I only use the sticky strings now. They are cheap and pretty much EVERY gas station or convenience store has them.

For effect only!

Ok, I am going tubeless. Any recommendations on which way to go about it? I see that there are different kits out there, which is the best way to go? :coffee:

Search Ebay for "OUTEX" kits
Currently a popular way to convert both rims for ~$125. If your rims have a safety bead that will be a plus.

Potential cons would be slight possibility to damage the seal changing tires, very remote chance a spoke/nipple could penetrate. Not sure of product life, assuming many years though.

Expensive way would be new rims, new spokes and build/true new rims using your existing hubs (if possible).

Not going the expensive way. My rims are "dated" but they still work. How clean do the rims need to be for the kit to work? When I changed tires I cleaned with a wire brush(gently), but they by no means look clean no matter how much elbow grease I used which makes me wonder if a kit would even work.

There is prep work required, nipple grinding and cleaning. Dang that sounds kinky.

Lots of youtube videos on these. I suggest you watch a few as have read they are better than the Outex instructions.

Yes Sir, YouTube is our friend.

There must be a board or two in front of the bike. Surely?

Instead of a "Texas gate", I'd call that an Aggie gate! :duck:
