Re: When Riding No Longer Thrills

Reminds me of a guy in TSBA. I used to ride up and meet 'em now and then for weekend rides out of Brookshire. I can't remember the guy's name other than Louis. He raced a SV in CMRA endurance. Anyway, he was captaining the ride, would lay back for everyone to make it through an intersection, then FLY buy on a GSXR1000 to the next intersection to see that everyone went the right direction and such. He was probably hitting a buck 50 to get to the next spot here and there. At one stop, I noticed his rear tire, looked a lot like that picture. He said he was going to change it when he got home. Well, I THINK he got home...on the motorcycle.

Also reminds me of an Andy Griffith episode. Goober (I think, maybe it was Gomer) was complaining about the station's new owner stressing sales and profits, making him sell things folks didn't need. He gives and example, "Old Mr. (insert name, I forgot) came in yesterday wondering about his tires. Andy, I tole him he needed a new set and he bought some, but he coulda got another 300 miles on the cord!"

That one makes me choke every time I see the rerun.

Maybe if he lived where I do that would constitute straight up and down riding, but in TX, that's using the whole tire.

Re: When Riding No Longer Thrills

Put some Fix-a-Flat in it and maybe he could get another 20 miles out of it

Re: When Riding No Longer Thrills

He plans on only braking with that tire.

He's going to leave a red mark on the road.
