Good family fun involving motorcycles and speeds up to 62 MPH

Well, that was a fun 2017. Looking forward to 2018. Hopefully more can come out and join us.

I still have a Grom to loan to anyone that has NOT roadraced before, track days OK. No charge for the bike, fresh tires, fuel provided. The grom retires along with me at the end of the year so hurry. Must be 13 and know a little about shifting to ride my bike. Slight age exception may be allowed by me if there is actual dirt bike racing involved. The last race had 7 Groms. The bike qualifies for at least 6 races per weekend. I have some adult leathers to loan.

You're finally going to retire? I miss TMGP, cheap thrills, like little mini GP bikes on a mini motoGP circuit. :D You can still get hurt when you fall off, though. Emmett Dibble convinced me to quit when I lost my health insurance. He crashed on the slowest corner at Denton and took 18 pins and a couple hundred thousand dollars to fix him up.

I thought about going back when I got on Medicare, but nah. I've had my fun. Sold my last XRs and made room in my storage shed.

I did retire, Jack. 28 years of mini racing and racing big bikes since 1982. I retired the big bikes last year. Broken finger in the mid '80s as my most severe injury. I've been really lucky. I remember when James Gardner fell in turn 1 at Oak hill and broke his wrist. I commented to someone that 58 was too old to race. I exceeded him by 11 years. It's been a good 35 years, but it was time.

2018 Round 1 for Texas MiniGP is right around the corner! It is scheduled for the 24th and 25th of February at GulfCoast Kartway in Katy, TX.

Curious about racing? This is a great place to start! Don't feel like racing just yet? Come check it out! Want to get closer to the action but not race? Be a corner worker!

I've been slacking! 2018 round 5 is in Denton July 7-8th. Schedule for endurance tomorrow is different than normal! This will be an evening race, gates open at noon on Saturday.

http://texasminigp.com/round5d.htm for full schedule

Endurance was tons of fun in the sun, then a couple of hours later under the lights to finish it off. The worst part was leaving the track around 11pm and having to be back by 8am to get ready for Sunday sprints.

Next round August 11-12 in Katy.

And a heads up... the last endurance race of the season will be at SpeedSportz in New Caney on Oct 13, then sprints the next weekend at Katy.

Are the Sprint races on Saturday or Sunday?

Sprints are on Sunday starting around 11-noon. That's typically been reversed at the first and last rounds but here in the middle of the season they're on Sunday. This is the link to the schedule for the next round: http://texasminigp.com/round6k.htm

And if anybody is just looking to come out and watch, sprints are surely more exciting for spectating. Don't miss the "scooter" race that's really any 50cc bike where the rules are announced when the riders grid up and they have to cheat at some point in the race! The order of the 25 or so total races isn't determined until the day of the event.
