Re: San Antonio routing help

It poured on me from boerne on 46 almost to 281. It didn't fully quit until I got close to Seguin.

Re: San Antonio routing help

Now, if the road conditions are the same next month as they were 60+ years ago, I wouldn't even have to ask the question.

This is the future 1-35 about 15 miles north of downtown San Antonio during the 1950s. The location is just outside where Loop 1604 is today, looking north toward the town of Selma. The present-day Retama Racetrack is located in the large field to the left. It was U.S. Highway 81 in those days.

Those days are long gone, its getting hard to tell where SA stops and New Braunfels starts on I-35 any longer

Thumbs up Re: San Antonio routing help

Prepairing for Eisenhower's brand new interstate system. Check out the roads freshly contured roadsides seemingly without any grasses yet. Frontage roads in place and the dark look of apparantly fresh asphalt, and those big grilled american automobiles. Neat photo!

It's no different out here. I remember as a teenager driving through darkness from Phoenix to Tucson, but now there are lights from homes just about the entire way between them.

Re: San Antonio routing help

downtown S A is a bit confusing but other than that there is no construction.
I H 10 at loop 1604 west, is a real mess with miles of construction. if you were to by-pass S A by going loop 1604 around town, you would still hit the construction on the west side on I H 10.
either way, it sucks!
just be careful, S A leads the nation in drunk drivers, stupid drivers and road rage drivers.
