Just wanted to introduce myself. I normally ride an older Gen I Tuono mostly on the track. I just picked up an '07 KLR650 that was in pieces in a giant box. I got it running so hopefully I can find some good dual sport roads off the beaten path in the Hill Country. I understand if people don't want to share the top secret roads though!

Naw, we’ll share what there is.

May I suggest joining one of Sander’s self-led rides? ( meet up for breakfast, then ride a route that Sander graciously created. Ride on your own or join a small, like-minded group.

San Antonio TARA ride http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117439

Similarly, Austin TARA ride http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113220

Both rides occur monthly. Both provide routes/tracks you can download to your gps.

TARA (Texas Adventure Riders Assoc) no dues no fees, just opportunities to get outside and ride.

Welcome to the community!

Would love to see a pic of the Tuono. (Oh yeah, the klr too of course. I guess...) ;-)

Thank you for the great info! I'll gladly share some pics of both. I don't have any decent ones of the KLR just yet only a dark one of the day I got it home and a failed still from a video of it running.

Welcome. I'd also recommend the ride with Sander. I'll be on the next one and I'll pass through the Bulverde/Spring Branch area on 46 on my way. I live in New Braunfels and commute daily to Boerne, usually on 46. So I pass through Bulverde twice a day Monday through Friday during the school year. If you've ever seen a red Ural sidecar passing through between 6:30 and 7:30 am or 4:00 and 5:00 pm, that's me.

That's an awesome bike and hard to miss, hopefully I'll see you on 46 one day!

Welcome from central Texas. There is a big following of KLRs here on TWT. You will fit right in. Do you have any plans of camping of the Kawasaki? We do that around here sometimes. KP

Keep a eye on the board for rides and camp outs in the future. Camping is the best way to get to know other riders from TWT.
