GS can do!

Depends. But most run more road then dirt tires. I'm running Shinko Trail masters but there are lots of others to choose from. I also have an extra set of wheels that I swap with knobs when it's time to get dirtier.

I've never ran those. Are they "singers" on the roads?

:tab I must be a bit off. The "hum" or "singing" of knobbies on my 530 EXC and 1200 GS has never bothered me  I do wear ear plugs all the time, but that has nothing to do with the tires. I have always worn them, even when I only rode street bikes. To me, it is just part of the riding experience, kind of like wind blast on my chest. I know there are some riders that will go to great lengths to get a windscreen that directs all wind off of them, which never really made sense to me, but to each his own... I kind of like the sound from the tires and how it changes depending on the type of surface on which I ride :-P

KTM has their problems too, off a 150.

Back to our regular GS channel. GS on front of flatbed rear ended the other one. Owner was overheard saying "ah ha.. now I know what the other side of a swingarm is for" Lol

Comments were he was in Big Bend, shock blew, rode as for as he could to make picking it up easy. Blew a tire among other stuff. Bill over 7500, probably a total loss. Ouch.

Hard to say, wonder if i would have tried to wedge a rock or log somehow to support the suspension off the tire and 1st gear limp out. . Cool pic, thanks for posting.

Has to be more to this than a blown shock. I have blown rear shocks. Even with ZERO oil in them, they do not collapse, they just lose their damping ability. The spring is still there carrying the weight of the bike. So either the spring collar stripped and came off, or the shock mounts broke. Otherwise, the fender would not be sitting on the tire.

Trying to ride it out to shorten recovery cost is not real smart. Knocking 5-10 miles off the recovery distance out there isn't likely to significantly reduce the recovery bill compared to the likely costs of further damage from continued riding!

Cliff Notes; Shock started leaking, kept riding, perch broke (my guess), tire bottomed to shock, kept riding spring wore through flattening tire, wheel bottomed to fender, kept riding, chewing up plastics.

He saved an extra $200 tow charge and totaled bike in the process or $7,500 repair.

I had some pretty spectacular get-offs back in my motocross days, but that one is kinda hard to figure out. The rear end must have hit hard at some point as it looks like the center stand is down.

Then this is a fat head.:rofl:
