Totally off topic but back when I lived in Waco I worked at the Waco Tribune Herald and would ride my RZ down Franklin street around 18th right past the MRS Baird's Bakery and the smell was heavenly. But .... a few blocks over was that dog food plant so it kinda went from one extreme to the other. Mudclod, you're doing a heluva job!

Re: The Honda CRF250L Thread

FYI, almost have valve check complete. Had one intake port out of spec. If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to offer any tips. My dad and I both have one, so I figured it was beneficial to do it, plus now I really know how to get a lot of the bike off.

Re: The Honda CRF250L Thread

I'm thinking about buying a CRF250L to replace my XT225. Has anybody dropped one in a stream and if so would the FI vs carb hinder or help? Water in a carburetor is usually an easy fix not sure about the FI system.

Re: The Honda CRF250L Thread

I have had no problem with the FI in deep water and if you read the ADV forum on this bike, I have read nothing of this being a problem. I would be more worried about the water in my boot and how I was going to get it dry. You need to quit worrying about FI on these new bikes, they are test proven by the riders to be very reliable. Buy the CRF250L, you will be very happy with the bike. I personally will not buy another bike without FI, I don't want to screw around with carburetors anymore, do you. I see you have other bikes with FI, do they cause you problems.

Re: The Honda CRF250L Thread

I've never had any problems with any FI bike but then I am not fording any rivers with them. You're right, I'm sure they are pretty bullet proof and a huge improvement over carburetors as far as I am concerned.

Re: The Honda CRF250L Thread

Haven't gone swimming yet on mine, but I've had it in some really deep water (3-4 ft) and didn't have any problems. Love the FI over the carb bike, so smooth and responsive and no choke or hassles starting in cold weather!

I went back and forth between the CRF and KLX and ultimately it came down to the FI.

go to Bass Pro and get a pair of Seal Skinz waterproof sock.

Breathable but waterproof- worth every penny.

Re: The Honda CRF250L Thread

I just got back from the dealer with my new CRF250L. As of now it has 1 mile on the clock. Will be putting on a few easy miles over the next couple of days. I think that I will be ordering a Flatland Racing radiator guard and skid plate.

There's mo' electronics in FI engine. So, maybe water can cause mo' corrosion problem.

I had a pickup truck that was flooded by high water during a storm. It sat for a while and wouldn't run because of nasty corrosion. Water got into one of the electronic modules (black box) and killed it good. Expensive too. Big down side to FI is expensive. Carb cheap to fix.

Re: The Honda CRF250L Thread

I have the flatland radiator guard, seems well built, easy to install. Though haven't dropped it on it yet. Wish i would have got their skid plate. Have the richote and not a huge fan of it.

Re: The Honda CRF250L Thread

Has anyone checked the speedometer on the CRF250L with a GPS? I have a WR250R and it showed 67MPH when the GPS only showed 60MPH but this was fixed with a SpeedoDRD. I have plans to buy the Honda eventually and just wanted to check. Thanks!

Re: The Honda CRF250L Thread

I haven't checked my speedo for accuracy yet, I do use my GPS when I want accurate readings. There is a fix for this talked about on ADV, but I personally don't care to mess with it, I just use the bike around town and trails.
