A fellow told me I needed to borrow his GoPro camera and mounts for some day trips into the Hill Country. So, I did.

This is my first try at a cycle vid and with gear and editing program I've never used before.

I let the bike sound mix with the soundtrack (Wake Up) rather liking it that way.

Anyway, here is one from the new guy.

Appears hard mounted to the bike, behind the windscreen.

GoPro placement on either the bike or helmet: each hes its pros/cons.

Yep. It was mounted on the bars just behind the screen without any rubber or anything between the mount and the bar. While not what I would want to do all the time, I actually kind of liked the sense of motion that the front fork movement and vibrations transmit, a real sense of being on the bike. The reflections I could live without though.

If I go with a camera of my own I will still mount in on the bike, but outside the windscreen and with some shock absorbing material if possible. I'm not a big fan of helmet mounts. Unless the person just looks straight and steady ahead there is too much movement for me. Some videos I've watched give me motion sickness just watching them.

One thing I noticed with the GoPro I don't like is the fisheye lens. I understand that to make sure you get a lot into the image and to compensate for guess it positioning they go with the extreme wide angle lens. Unfortunately, wide angle lenses distort distance by opening it up, extreme wide angle even more so. That makes that nice tight twisting section you had to gear down to second, or that really tight, elevation changing, I can see my taillight out of the corner of my eye, I'm in first or die turn, all look like gentle sweepers.

Anyone have any suggestions for any mobile cameras that have a slightly tighter lens?
