I hope to ride this scenic route again this summer in route to Canada.

...the melting ice cascading down the side of the rocky mountain was breathtaking.

You were fortunate to have such light traffic. We had heavy traffic and construction during our ride in 2012.

I just rode through there last year myself. If anyone else is planning to go, I'd highly suggest going at the very start or very end of the season. I was there the last weekend that the park was "fully" open, and it was still noticeably crowded.
