Re: 1st YEAR OF RIDING ALMOST DONE

Congrats on the first year and many miles! Riding is very addicting. Clears the head really well

I believe one would have to have about 6 motorcycles to cover everything

Yup, I'd sure like it. Will need a sugar momma to help me afford more stuff.

I used to be enthusiastic about ham radios too, that can get expensive and it just doesn't stop. I've since weaned myself off of it almost completely. I'd rather spend my free time riding than sitting in a chair talking on a radio.

Other than a remarkable difference in height, we might have been brothers

I got my licenses through Extra, got into contesting and DXing, and set up a decent compact home and mobile HF station. I got DXCC, chased all the rare countries, worked 48-hour contests at the local super stations. My wife hated it and it wasn't doing my health any good. One day a few years ago, I boxed everything up, all of it, and sold it.

After a 7-year absence (itch?), I bought another street bike in September of last year. Riding beats the **** out of ham radio. The people you meet are more fun, too.

Glad to know you and congrats on your bike anniversary!

73,
Robb

It's pretty cheap therapy. Congrats on the milestone, hope you have many more miles and smiles ahead!

Re: 1st YEAR OF RIDING ALMOST DONE

Dang, Robb, I had no idea you were that nerdy. I'm glad you boxed up the stuff too and got a motorcycle! My stuff just collects dust but I have a hard time getting rid of it. I'm just a Technician so don't do HF, just local repeaters and such. But with new technology repeaters are connected to the internet so you can talk around the world. It just really isn't my thing as I'd rather get out and enjoy the world in person rather than by remote.

1Wheel Peel, we all know about therapy and it is pretty cheap to get some with a full tank of gas.

Thanks everybody. The motorcycle community is probably the most fun, friendly and interesting I've met. Then there's the Harley crowd but I won't get into that...
