Calling all TX sidecars and motorcycles with a desire to help out some kids battling cancer. Yep, the 2016 DFW area Ride for Kids is coming up on Sunday, Oct 9. The weather is supposed to be perfect on Sunday.

Here are a couple of Texas boys you might recognize talking about why you might want to help [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcIBoiVZcpw"]Ride for Kids PSA with Lyle Lovett & Kevin Schwantz - YouTube[/ame]

Why sidecars (in addition to motorcycles) when there will also be a couple of hundred motorcycles of every kind there? Because sidecars (and slingshots) get the privilege of taking some of the local patients and their families on the ride and lead the parade. We get to put big smiles on these kids' faces instead of them being at the doctor's office or the hospital for at least a day. And, their smiles will put one on your face, guaranteed.

They ride will start at Texas Motor Speedway and will be police escorted at a relaxed pace out through the countryside and back where we normally take a lap or two and then have lunch during a program for the kids and a local "celebrity" band will play.

When you arrive (by 9 am), tell the parking crew you want to be a VIP Escort and they'll direct you to special parking and escort registration. Bring your valid license and proof of insurance. They have helmets for the passenger(s).

If you have questions, feel free to shoot me a message. I've been a volunteer for a while now and if I don't know the answer, I can get it.

Great question. No, we also use 2 wheelers for VIP escorts for older kids and their family members. And, of course, most of the participants in the event are motorcycles of every kind. (vs 3 wheelers)
Come on out and head to the VIP Escort line. They never know how many kids and what ages will show up and need rides until the day of the event, but even if you don't end up being needed, you're still in the VIP group at the front for being willing to help.

Come on by around 8:30 or so.

Ride starts around 9:30 to 10 and lasts an hour - a parade ride west of TMS.

You will be out by noon or thereabouts.
