***SOLD***
Selling my 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal. Runs really strong, with an FMF exhaust. I recently went a little overboard on a refresh. The new parts list is below, and these items have less than 10 hours on them. It is jetted just right, starts easily and has great compression. Clear street title in my name, in hand. Tags and inspection are valid until April 2015.

A̶s̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶$̶2̶,̶4̶0̶0̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶C̶L̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶$̶2̶,̶2̶0̶0̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶e̶. Price lowered to $2,000. I can take credit cards via PayPal, if you pay the fees.

The good:

- runs strong, starts easy
- lots of new parts (see below)
- FMF exhaust
- street legal - control switch with hi/lo beam with hi beam indicator, horn, blinker switch (wired for blinkers, but blinkers are not on it, and not included)
- ready to get on and ride wherever you want to go

The not so good:

- there are some rust spots here and there. I sanded and painted some areas during the refresh with DupliColor "performance white" (Ford) BM0335, which is a perfect match.
- tires (Pirelli MT21 DOT front, Michelin AC10 DOT rear), could stand to be replaced sometime soon.
- the front master cylinder has one screw broken off. I zip tied that side of the cap on and have not had any issues with it, so I've not replaced it.

Recent new parts during the refresh:

- oversized footpegs
- new sidepanels
- exhaust gaskets (new, unopened)
- new red gripper seat cover
- control switch
- rear brake master cylinder rebuild kit
- MSR folding shifter
- MotionPro terminator clutch cable
- sintered front brake pads
- MSR brake lever, shorty, black
- clutch lever, shorty, black
- clutch Perch, black
- Acerbis front fender for CRF450, white
- UFO white frame guards
- No-Toil air filter
- Polisport Exura headlight, hi/lo beam
- chain slider
- Renthal Grip Donutz
- carb gasket set
- Pro X 99101-357 Series Keihin Hex Main Jet 158
- Pro X N424-21 Series Keihin Pilot Jet 68
- Moose Racing Magnetic Drain Plug
- Tusk Universal On/Off Switch
- Primary Drive Rear Chain Guide
- tank cover (tank is in good shape, just has yellowing)

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated

What happened to the chain guard/case protector?

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated

I dunno. It wasn't on there when I bought it. The owner said he had it somewhere and would let me know when he found it (he was on a ranch). Never heard back from him. I've thought about getting this one, but never did: http://www.xrsonly.com/xrs-only-case-saver-honda-xr500r-xr600r-15-tooth-silver. If that seals the deal I'll order it :lol2:

Forgot to mention that the rear taillight assembly is Baja Designs.

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated

If it did, there are no broken off bolts in the holes, I checked that, if that's what you are trying to insinuate.

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated

I was told not to budge on the price, but I've not had a single person come look at it

How about an even $2,000? Can still take credit cards if you pay the fee associated with it. Title in hand, in my name.

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated

What are you going to get to replace her when she sells?

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated

whats your comparison/take on the 450x verses the 600R?

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated

They are fairly close to equal as far as power, although the X seems to put it down a little better in my opinion. The X is about 20 lbs lighter. The big difference to me is the suspension. You basically have old school technology vs new. Not saying you can't do a lot of things on the XR, as I did plenty of trails and jumps on my XR650L, and it weighed a bunch more than the XR600. I have halfway contemplated putting my X up for sale and just keeping whichever one sells. This XR600 is a good all around bike, the X just does the offroad trails/single track stuff and jumps better to me.

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated

it sounds like a pretty cool bike, my interest in a d/s that could also maybe swap over to some sumo/rain tires for track days was piped up when I saw a friend ride a katoom on rains at ECR a few weeks back.

Re: 1998 Honda XR600R, dual sport, street legal, plated
