Hello everyone, I've been lurking on the forums for a couple of weeks now and now I registered. There's a lot of knowledge here and I look forward to using it and adding my own. I am an aircraft mechanic by trade and I also currently serve in the Texas Army National Guard as a helicopter mechanic, specifically CH-47s. I ride a SV-650S and a VSTAR 650. I'm currently trying to sell the SV and get into something adventure touring that's more comfortable. Thanks for having me, I hope to meet some people in one of the events.

Welcome. I'm in Greenville. Prior service Marine where I was an aircraft mechanic for 13 years. Worked on CH-53s, C-130s, and V-22s. Keep those rotors turning.

Got any specific ADV bike in mind?

I think I've got out narrowed down to these.

Welcome fellow Rockwallian! I'm in Heath. Rides are an '09 Multistrada and '14 KTM 350 EXC that miraculously survived complete coolant loss while racing the weekend.

The area east of DFW is lightly represented on TWT so glad to have your attendance. Lots of fun rural routes east of Rockwall if you're new to the area.

Based on this thread it seems we might have enough over here for an east side meet and eat and greet. :D
 
You're in the right place for sure. Check the boards & there are at least a couple of VStroms, and maybe a Beemer and a Tenere for sale right now. Welcome to TWT.

Hard to beat the DL650. It can tackle nearly anything in Texas. But I'm a little biased lol

Welcome! I see several Chinooks flying around in Kurdistan where I work. Almost always escorted by a couple of Blackhawks ... it is a very reassuring sight!

We moved to Rockwall over the past year. Still settling in. Haven't had a chance to ride in a long time.

Just closed on a new home in Castle Ridge, a few miles north of town, off of 205. Will slowly be moving in over the next month. We have been living in an apartment with the essentials for about a year, while we shopped for the right house. Rest of our belongings are in storage down by the coast. It's been a crazy year for us.
Bike has been collecting dust in the parking garage for months. Will likely have to break out my portable booster to fire it up.

Im in Forney. Have a 2017 Vstrom 650. If you ever see a white vstrom with a guy wearing a hi-viz dual sport helmet its me.
 
Dave, do you have a BMW as well? I talked to a guy at a light the other day that was wearing a hi-viz dual sport helmet. I'm in Heartland (basicly Forney).

No. Just the v strom. Only had it about a month too.

By the way there is a bike and car meet every Wednesday night at the Bucees in Terrell at 7pm. Would love to have some more bikes show up! We started it as a car meet but Ive been trying to get more bikes to come out. We normally get about 20 bikes and about 150-200 cars/trucks.

I know a bunch of nice roads through East Texas and I plan on putting together some group rides for us East Siders.

And just in case you dont know Im riding with 4 other bikes from Greenville TX to Hot Springs Arkansas tomorrow. Check the event part of this site for more info if interested.
