Weekly East Texas ramble of Thrill-Billy & Baja Explorer

.7 gallons on a 650l which gets about 40mpg is equates to what, an additional 30 miles?

On the other hand... Keith's tank holds like 6.8 gallons. If he goes, and I bring a siphon tube... No problemo!

And I suppose my bike is suppose to be the fuel tanker for yours now?
Wonder if we can transfer fuel like the air tankers do, on the fly.

30 miles =- long walk with banjo music coming from the woods..........:eek2:

Hey if anyone is wondering where that really rough section of road is, down the small washout canyon, under the tree, over the bridge, and up the tire littered crack.... It's right here. The green is that section, the red area that circled is where I ended up, and the red line North was my exit.

What's on the agenda for next Toozday (edit: or whenever)? I have nothing on the calendar and bikes with full tanks. :rider:

I'm thinking maybe this same route. Problem this week was about half a mile of the road along the neches was under 2-6' of water. So we had to cut her short.

I'll just continue posting as new post:

This road had some deep washes cutting almost half the width.
Can't really see them because of vid quality.
Still wet and clay like top over the straight portions.

Still to come, water crossing, almost water crossing, more ruts and stuff.

2 feet is fine, but you know as well as I do, 2 can become 4 feet with zero warning.

Match that with the fact that this was the case for at least 800 yards down the road, which was as far as we could see. I knew from the previous week's ride it wasn't getting any better (worse in fact) around the bend, up the way.

 :rider:  If a starting point from the south pops up add me to that list. And a little cooler temps. Decent motel in the area? Enough to turn this into a two day ride?

Just a few ruts in the road and small creek, oh and one tree limb.
Youtube said they could take the shaky out of the vids, so trying it

Easy Water Crossing.

This is what stopped us.
Like Billy states 800 yards underwater.
Judging from the depth of the washouts we had already been making our way around, there could very easily be at least one that was two feet and just waiting to swallow our bikes.

Shades of "Deliverance". It would have been nice to have a buddy along if something untoward happened.

Well I just bumped into this thread while sipping coffee getting ready for work and now all I can think of is how stupid I am for missing a fun time like this. Nothing better than adventuring into the unknown, thanks for sharing!

Been a while since anyone posted in this thread, but I'm in Tyler if you guys are still doing these rides every so often.

I've never been off-road but just got a klr so going to give it a whirl. Not to far from Kilgore so maybe we can meet up and explore the backroads of smith and gregg county.

Not too many backroads that I know of in Smith or Gregg Co.

Rusk and Cherokee county is a different story though. Unfortunately I'm bikeless so you fellers have fun!
