It’s Rubber Chicken time again! Please join the New Mexico Off Highway Vehicle Alliance, (NMOHVA) for its 5th Annual Rubber Chicken Ride on October 21-23, 2016.
What is the Rubber Chicken Ride? It is an annual dual-sport motorcycle event in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
This year’s event is, once again, a fund-raising event to support NMOHVA’s work at preserving, protecting, and promoting motorized recreation in New Mexico. ALL money over and above the cost of hosting the event will go straight to NMOHVA’s Land Action Fund. Last year, NMOHVA donated over $5,000 to Friends of the Box, Inc., a local organization dedicated to re-opening public access in nearby Monticello Canyon (more on this below). You can check out NMOHVA and what we are about at our recently upgraded website:
www.nmohva.org
NMOHVA is working hard to make this year’s event even more fun for the riders.. Here are some of the changes for this year’s event:
1. LIVE MUSIC on Friday night! NMOHVA has engaged “Pint and Half” (Duke and Tami Shepard) to play for us on Friday evening. Duke and Tami are well-known dual sport personalities and their musical career has been skyrocketing! Check them out at:
http://www.pint-and-a-half.com/ and https://www.reverbnation.com/dukesheppard
We have seen them perform and we guarantee a good time!
2. Dinner will be catered at the Pelican Spa (Red Pelican courtyard) on Saturday evening. Catering the event on site will allow us to accommodate more people and serve our riders much faster. It will also allow us to start the raffle much earlier as we can overlap with the dinner and have both in the same space.
3. We are going to publish our suggested dual sport routes (with difficulty ratings) ahead of time so riders have an easier time deciding what routes to enjoy. All of the rides are still “no fee” and completely up to the discretion of the event participant’s discretion. We are identifying more people on more routes for riders to follow. This will help keep the group sizes down and allow riders to better tailor their riding adventures to their desires. We will be identifying more “beginner friendly” and “big bike friendly” rides to accommodate a wider range of riders and skill levels.
4. We are bumping the registration limit to 100 riders this year.
Online registration for the 2016 Rubber Chicken Ride is up and running - http://nmohva.wildapricot.org/event-2191074
Registration for the 2016 event is $80 and includes live music Friday evening, Saturday evening dinner, an event shirt, event stickers, and a chance to win great gear and merchandise donated by the great manufacturer’s, dealers, and venders who support NMOHVA.
All road riding requires a legal, plated bike per New Mexico statutes. There will be no "waiting list" so register early to ensure you get one of the limited slots. We cannot guarantee a T-shirt or the requested size for any registrations after September 28th.
