Hopefully we get some good racing and it isn't a repeat of the outdoors.

Kroc in the lead by the end of lap 1...and he wins

It seems that's always been the case with sx, get a good start, main competition back a couple of spots and leader checks out.

Re: 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross

Yes, Kroc got the lead and was gone. That might be a common theme this year. He is said and shown so far he is the guy to beat this year. I do think its he year and that he is pretty focused and will win if he can stay health. Dungey will get a few I think. Always like outdoors much better. SX is kinda repetitive later on in the season. Good to see all the moving around of bikes and riders.

Could anyone confirm the start time for the Dallas SX? It's saying 3:30pm on most sites

Re: 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross

I thought it was ironic to watch Tomac slip so many positions after watching the Kawasaki science special of him endurance training.

Dungey, Roczen, and Muscan. Tomac might see the podium if he doesn't focus as much on controlling his heart rate...

Re: 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross

Here is what I see after two rounds.

The sleeping giant that is Honda is fully awake after a 12 year slumber. They finally have a good bike and they have a top rider in K Roc. The Honda was better through the whoops last night over the KTM and that was the difference. Also Dungey applied 20 laps of pressure staying glued to Roczen's rear end, but Kenny never wavered. That was extremely impressive to me, and shows that Kenny's mental approach is improved.

Roc and Dungey were 21 seconds clear of third place in San Diego. Nearly half a lap!

Tomac has fallen out of the second tier (Anderson, Seely, Marvin M) of riders and is barely holding off the third tier. He is not comfortable on his bike, clearly, but I don't think he has ever been the same since his severe double shoulder injury. I really root for Eli and I hope he can figure it out.

Yamaha's 450 is not a great SX bike but the 250 does fine. Not sure why but it is more than just the riders.

The racing was better in San Diego, especially the 250 main. Four riders could have won it. Dungey and Roc were fun to watch as they decimated the field in the 450 race. The normal concrete-hard San Diego dirt was wet from all the rain and the track broke down enough that it became technical and provided some good racing.

Bubba and Mookie are supposed to be back for the next round. We will see if they actually show up. If so, Mookie will do good to be inside the top 10 and I don't look for James to even finish a race. We will see. I hope I am wrong because they will make things more interesting

Re: 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross

I'm not familiar with Yamaha's bike or any of the factory mod bikes for that matter but I would bet that if Roc or Dungey were on the Yamaha they would have still gone 1-2.
I am shocked that Webb isn't running in the 2nd or even 3rd tier of competition. I don't think it's the bike he's on either. If I had to guess it his conditioning. Goes to show just how much more work it is controlling the 450s.
I'm hoping to see Anderson on the podium in Anaheim.

I must admit I'm surprised Tomac is not doing better, he certainly has the talent. I don't know if he's gun shy from that bad get-off he had on the Honda, or if he just can't get a feel for his new Kymco...

Certainly a lot of talent this year, but it looks like conditioning is really coming in to play.

I think I agree with you!!!! 94 and 1 are the cream of the crop.

Re: 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross

At this point it looks like #94 could end up being invited to ride next years series behind the #1 plate. But the season is still young, and the unexpected always lies in wait. Could yet prove to be a very interesting series!

You're right, can't ever predict mechanicals or injuries. But 94 is on a roll.

Re: 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross

The 250 main was great!!!

And the 450 main at least kept my attention because you knew if either Dungey or Roczen had a bobble the other would take it. I wish Dungey would have take a shot a couple times before the last lap. May have been able to force a mistake. But as the announcers pointed out. He very well could have been hanging back just to see where and how Kroc is faster. A solid 2nd place and some intel into the competition could prove more valuable than a 1st in the long run.

I wish Tomac was competitive...I really like him.

As for Yamaha I think it is all who is on the bike. Reed is impressive for his age, but well past his prime and not a front runner. Webb will do ok and start picking it up mid season as he gets more time.

Re: 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross

Good to see the discussion going. I like to read everyone's takes. Y'all don't spin my comments about the Yamaha 450. I simply said it was not a great SX bike. Yes Roczen could still win with it.

However the best chance Yamaha has to win a 450 race is to hope Barcia makes it back and at one of the East Coast rounds it rains 5 inches on race day. Barcia can win a mudder!

I thought JGR switched over to Suzuki?

Ha! Yes! My feeble mind is showing its cards. See, poor Yamaha really has no chance now.
