First camp/ride in California

Figured some of ya'll might be interested. As you can see a lot of these folks are of the same.....ahem "vintage" as everyone I hung out with back home

Got up Saturday morning and got everything on the bike. Took off around 730 to meet up with the San Diego BMW club for breakfast. Left there and headed south to get on Otay Lakes Road to head north. Eventually wound up on the Sunrise Hwy and then into Julian.



Managed to get into Borrego Springs around 130ish. Happened to pass Tom coming down Montezuma and by the time I found the campground he was pulling up to the gate right behind me.

Found the campground and got setup and it didn't take long for other folks to start rolling in.








Everyone started setteling in and making quick runs into town for "essential" supplies.
The ice cream didn't last long enough for me to get the picture.




Hurry up with that mansion we need access to the wine cellar


Speaking of wine.....how about some cheese

Breakfast Time




Immediately after breakfast we all started packing up. I was the first one done and the first out of the gate that morning. A few stayed to hike to the springs hope they made it there and back before the heat set in.

Up on Palomar for my first time. Awesome road. And the little restaurant up by the Observatory was good too.








Lilac Road closer to Escondido. Neat little road if you are willing to deal with about 2 miles of dirt road on the reservation side.





That's all the pictures I have to post. Got to the barracks around 130 and cleaned up thebike a little bit. I haven't cleaned it since before I left Texas and it was getting a bit dirty. Can't wait for the next event

Looks like your finding some great scenery out there. Hopefully the heat hasn't already started.

Nice! You guys know how to travel. I love that area but have never been there on a bike. Its on the bucket list.

Enjoy, California need to ride off into... the Sierra Nevadas. Take ride out Mariposa and go up to the Park, that would be great ride! Yosemite National Park. If you ever think about
let me know. You need to go by my brothers house in Mariposa Ex-Marine. Enjoy the riding in the Mountains and riding in the desert... ride and camp! It's great!

Man, looks like you are absolutely hating the motorcycling out there. I'm not jealous at all. Nice pics!

If looking little history our Court House oldest standing in the state and still being used. If you go to High School, post all the photos Graduated Class each year, 1974 is year graduated out of Mariposa High.
That's History!

No kidding. Job thing, kid thing, house thing, money thing. Too many things.

Downs.. Looks like fun. Every time I fly out west I'm looking down thinking I'd love to ride out there. Maybe some day. Enjoy.

Only thing I have t worry about is the job thing and so far it looks like it's going to cooperating with me as far as time off. I'm about to put in a few leave requests to for the BMW MOA rally the 49'er rally in Mariposa and another for Sturgis I told my dad I'd ride up there with him and I'd like to check it out at least one time if for no other reason than to people watch.
