Chains don't stretch.

We all know chains don't stretch but they do wear.
114 links ~24,000 miles

Half a link difference.

Changed chain and sprockets today.

And they can wear VERY rapidly if not kept clean... That is perhaps more important than lubing them if they are O-ring chains that come pre-lubed (hence the O-rings...).
 
Looks like we use the same removal method. No sense breaking expensive tools to remove something going in the garbage.
 
But you can put them on too tight, then no stretch!

My last DID chain on my ZX1100E had 24K on it when I sold it. After the first couple thousand miles I think I adjusted it twice. After that, I just kept it clean and lubed with Teflon spray. It did not need any adjustment until I sold it, I think I adjusted it just a tad after 24K. Even the sprockets still looked good.
