Re: Interesting

There's a road out of Porterville, CA (CA 190) that goes through Springville up into the Sierra Nevada mountains and it has switchbacks similar to that. They have signs along the road telling you how many feet above level you are. It's paved up to a little past an area called Cedar Slope and then turns into a trail. I was in Porterville on business back in 1999, in a rent car, and drove up to Camp Nelson (around 4900 ft above sea level from the 500 ft level in Porterville). Got a little queasy in the stomach from either the constant switchbacks or the quick change in altitude - not sure which. It looked like it would be an awesome trip on a motorcycle. The trail is supposed to go all the way over the mountains to Death Valley. Was wondering if anyone on here has ridden it?

Re: Interesting

Not making light of coastal folks plight, but here in Huntsville we're 120 miles from coast and nowhere near landfall. And on Thursday night there is no bottle water in town according to reports.

Re: Interesting

You can thank the "news" media for that.

Re: Interesting

Actually, you can thank people who think the news media is honorable. It isn't. Never has been. Ask the collectivists, or the conservatives, or a history teacher. You'd be absolutely amazed what the media intentionally misrepresents. Media dishonor has actually become part of the plan of the communists to take over the U. S. of A. Parts 20 and 21.

Might as well read them all. There are detailed explanations of who, what, when, where, why, and how, for each, all over the internet, but this summary is all I'm linking to because the vast majority of Americans and illegal aliens lack even enough concentration to make it through just the two related to media. Trying to educate the dense is just like trying to educate a pig--waste of time and annoys the pig. To sum it up, any time you hear or see one of these 45, you are hearing or seeing one of Lenin's useful idiots. The people spreading this malarkey aren't in it for you.

MMMmmm!!!! Bacon! Virginia Ham! (Can't tolerate the salt in the country ham any more).

Many developmental stages ago my Mom asked what I wanted for my birthday. Virginia Ham, candied yams, steamed spinach, steamed sweet corn, sweet tea, and a chocolate birthday cake with chocolate icing.

Mom loaded the car and stuck me and three younger sibling inside. Don't recall if the older one was there or not but he hated me anyway so it doesn't matter. Dear ol' Dad was off doing Army things. No friends--above average intelligence and severe ADHD at 12 usually means no friends. I preferred dead pig to live friends even then.

I suppose she chose a very unusual and expensive park for a reason, one in southeast Virginia that was dedicated to the experiences of the Vikings in the New World long before the Portuguese and Spaniards came this way. Supposedly, the Vikings were here second, after the Siberians. I don't know that much about the peoples of Northern Europe way back then, I was overwhelmed by academic demands before I was able to complete that investigation and never went back. Perhaps I should?

Anywho, everything was scrumptious to me, don't care what the others thought, even if they did. The museum was fascinating. Learned a ton about Northern European histories and cultures.

Did you know that when rowed the Vikings' longboats trapped quantities of air bubbles under the hulls which significantly reduced the hydrodynamic drag compared to other boats of similar size and weight so the longboats were far faster, and able to use more horizontal keel for stability and bigger rudders for quicker steering, but when speed was essential, as in combat, narrower rudders provide all the directional control necessary because of the increased speed capabilities.

Anywho, the vibrations from the ride caused a valley to form in the cake. It was still awesome. Thanks, Mom, best birthday ever.

Re: Interesting

I don't like the valve problems when they show their ugly side but love my 4 stroke.
