Adventure Breakfast & Ride - Saturday 6/17/17 @ 9a at the OST in Bandera

A Texas Adventure Riders Association
San Antonio Chapter Event

OST Restaurant
305 Main St
Bandera, Texas 78003
(830) 796-3836
MAP

Post Breakfast Ride Information

If anyone is up for a post breakfast ride see the optional route map below. Groups usually take off around 10am.

The Adventure Breakfasts & Rides are all about fun, camaraderie and being safe. Some groups will focus on completing the route, others will just relax and ride to their cut off time and head home.

The route is a no host self-guided GPS ride, as the ride is self-guided join a group or lead one.

A group size of 4 - 6 riders with about a maximum of 8 is optimal, grouping by bike size or desired pace is also beneficial if possible.

Rain date information will be posted on the Thursday before the ride if necessary.

June ride map
*Disclaimer - I build the routes on my computer using the Roads of Texas map book as my guide which is the best and most accurate I have used, but not perfect, and Furkot's mapping program. So the route may not be 100% accurate.

For those that join my group
When I lead a group I donít stop for lunch, I have several nature break stops and a stop midway out in the country for snacks or a sandwich I bring with me, then of course there are the planned fuel stops.

I stop at every non-obvious corner and wait for the entire group and make sure the last rider sees the proper way to go, there is NEVER a need to ride above your comfort level to keep up, we wonít leave you, I encourage riders to spread out to avoid the dust. The daisy chain method also works well, especially when its extremely dusty to keep the group even more spread out, the rider in front makes sure the rider behind makes the corner and so on until the sweep rider makes the corner. As long as the rider in front takes responsibility for the rider behind no one gets lost. However please tell someone in the group if your plans change and you decide to break off from the group, that prevents you being searched for.

Safety and rider etiquette
Having your emergency contact information on you and having that information readily available is critical. This is important not just for group rides but everyday. Even though you may have a buddy along on the ride you may get separated on the road.
At minimum:
Name
Your street
Your town, state, Zip code
Driver's license # & state
Emergency contact
Emergency Phone
I taped mine on the bottom of the visor of my dual sport helmet, I also taped another on the back side of my fairing near the dash. The important thing is that it is easy for anyone to find.

Respect the landowners and other road users, slow down and ride quietly when passing, people, vehicles, animals, homes, etc.

I am going to come in from Katy early Saturday morning. Sander, is it OK to leave my truck where i did when i met up with you last time i rode. That was when your battery went south on you. Looking forward to this ride. Let me know when you plan to head to Bandera, would like to meet up and ride there with you.

I'm a definite maybe. I just never know from one day to the next what I will be needing to do besides ride!!!

I offer a slight diversion to part of your route:
https://goo.gl/maps/6Rm8KG7Tg532

Cutbirth off of Hwy 39, and a slight change off Loop 98 (nice view on Rimrock).

If there is a "not so fast" group, I'm in it. I'll be riding one of my small cruisers.

Hope to be there!

It's been a while since I've been on a group ride. I'm going to try like heck to make this one. Likely on the L.

Question Re: Adventure Breakfast & Ride - Saturday 6/17/17 @ 9a at the OST in Bandera

I'm not sure of the protocol..... can I just show up?
Do most folks have breakfast there? Is there usually a wait?
What time do most folks show up?

Sure, its a great spot, the Alsatian Steinbach House Park.

I plan on leaving Castrovile no later than 8a so we can ride the adventure route up. I'll head over to the Alsatian Steinbach House Park :10 till 8.

I look forward to riding (flying) with you again!

Yes, just show up, eat breakfast, kick tires, meet new friends, and go on the ride afterward if you would like.

Most eat breakfast there but not all, but at breakfast is where we get to know each other. We are usually finished with breakfast by 945-950a, but times varies with the crowd or lack there of.

Riders start arriving at 830a or so through 915a if they have breakfast. The rides start around 10a.

Hi guys. New to this group. I live in San Antonio and have only done a few short group rides organized by Alamo Cycle. I am planning on this being my first with this group so look forward to meeting some of you on Saturday.

I was planning on being at a Ural tech day but the swing arm broke. I may just show up on a Triumph Scrambler.

Another great group! Everybody did a great job, especially the big bike riders.

Hambone334 wins the hardcore award, Katy to Castroville and ready to ride before 745a, a 257 mile adventure ride and back to Katy the same day.
