That is one clean looking bike! Wish I had the room for it.

Interesting aftermarket side-cover gas tanks for early Goldwings. Guessing they are fairly rare items.

Re: The Craigslist Thread

The guy that competed in the hopeless class of the IBR could have used those effectively.

It has a Rekluse and a Pingel I guess.

Re: The Craigslist Thread

It's something that street racers use. I didn't know they made a dirt bike version.

Nicely farkled 2005 V Strom 38K miles $4000

This bike belongs to an aircraft mechanic that worked for me in my old inspection section. He's a good guy that knows how to take care of things.

AFAIK Rekluse started out production auto-clutch on dirt (trail) bikes. It makes it easier to take off when you are stopped on a hill, without having to worry about the clutch. About 3-4 years ago they released a rekluse clutch for Harley Davidson, which will make it easier for new riders.

Pingel air-shifts are definitely used by street racers. Hit the throttle, bang the gear shift (don't pull in the clutch!), BANG! It's in gear. It saves fractions of a second.

Re: The Craigslist Thread

Totally familiar with the clutch, just not the shifter on a dirt bike.

Modified for a disability? Generally dirt bikes aren't the chosen mounts for that purpose though.

I'm so lazy with shifting. I have the YCCS on my FJR and this on the gixxer.

Now I need to fit up a Rekluse on my KTM. But it's hard to add a product to the bike that costs more than the bike is worth.

You need to try the Gen 3 DCT I never needed nor wanted one. Not sure why I would choose to go without now....

I felt the same way about Rekluse on dirt bikes for a while. Had no real interest, didn't see a need for it. Saw it as a crutch for lazy old farts. Then started riding more tight, technical stuff and after stalling out for the 300th time one day over ledges and stair steps, I tried my buddy's KTM 500 that had one, and it made things about ten times easier. No blipping or fanning the clutch, trying not to stall or wheelie. Just point, shoot, and let the bike figure things out. I guess you can still call it "cheating", but it makes tough terrain a whole lot easier, less tiring, and more fun. I'm on the bike to have fun, not prove anything.

I ordered one for my Beta a few days later....

Re: The Craigslist Thread

It's all about the situation. My push button shifting on my FJR is pretty pointless most of the time. But I commute and when I get caught in traffic, I absolutely LOVE it.
