Re: KLR650 Thread

I have Wolfman Expedition bags for my KLR and Giant Loop Siskiyou bags for my Africa Twin. The Siskiyou are much bigger, but the Expeditions are half the cost. Like them both. Also, remember the Around the Bend ride is in March.

Re: KLR650 Thread

Howdy y'all.

I traded in my 2014 Ural Patrol today for a 2018 KLR650. It's still in the box but I should be able to pick it up tomorrow after work or Friday morning.

I'm in New Braunfels and would welcome any information on any upcoming tech days or meet and greets in the San Antonio or Austin area.

These are the good times, they're looking good so far,
jwaller is loving life, on his brand new KLR.
Got rid of the Ural, that nightmare now is over,
He'll probably get another one when H3LL freezes over.

Nice! I got the same exact looking bike about six weeks ago. My farkles so far consist of a goat skin for the seat and a crack in the radiator. Donít drop it in the left side unless you want the same. If I canít get the radiator repaired, Iíll shoehorn in an after market radiator for $75; a new 2018 radiator is $710...... um, no! Then crash bars for me.

Re: KLR650 Thread

Well, my KLR is fugly. Snot green and faded, a 2000 model. All I need, though, and it's paid for. Runs great. I don't put too many miles on it. I have had it 7 years now and put 10K miles in that time. I'm not much of a motorcyclist anymore. There was a time when I'd load up and take off for Utah. Not so much anymore. I'm lucky to ride 50 miles round trip.

Dang, sorry to hear that. I'll take it easy until I get the crash bars on. Glad to hear there is a $75 replacement option though.

Re: KLR650 Thread

The radiator went back in the shop this morning and I picked it up this evening. All good to go. The bike's put back together now. I just have to keep it on the road and out of the dirt until I get crash bars. Don't want to do that again.

A radiator shop in Seguin was able to patch up the cracked radiator. Good to go now.

Re: KLR650 Thread

Based on your radiator experience, I went ahead and got the crash bars put on today along with a Shinko 804 front tire to give it a little more traction off pavement.

Already put on the hand guards and foot pegs. Planning on adding a windscreen and center stand and then hopefully done with the farkles at that point.
