Re: 50CC ride attempt

You an also adjust the "frequency" of the points in SW. With a route map shown, hit the drop down on the "name of the ride" button ("2018 50CC" in this case), select Adjustments, change the % Fill and hit the Update Map button.

Also, I use SWConnect on my iPhone, connected to SW. I can adjust the Track Logging from 5-10 minutes.

Re: 50CC ride attempt

On Android, BubblerGPS is the choice app. It'll store up your points if you lose coverage and upload them when you do. Not bad when you are on the interstates. Also, BubblerGPS is built and maintained by a motorcyclist and designed with long distance rallies in mind. It's a good app and you know the price of the app goes to put gas in a nice guy's motorcycle.

Yes, the plate is Long Distance Rider. AZ only allows 5 characters on a moto plate so you have to get creative. Unbeknownst to me at the time, ldrdr is Mike Kneebone's forum name on the GL1800riders.com and when I came back to the forum after a long absence I created the forum name LDRDR. Although the only difference is the capitalization, the system accepted it.

What was your expense for this 1 way cc?
I won't figure that out until I get home.

I thought when you took off from that bp, I was like , why the he'll doesnet he stop? Finally occured to me, he's headed to the airport to receive his bride. Haha.
On the way in, I kept wondering to myself why I had to detour to Jacksonville Beach instead of just getting my final receipt in Jacksonville, but it's tradition so I stuck with it and then headed back north to the hotel.

That spot really brings it home for the audience. Do you pay for each ping (transmission)? Can you set the frequency of how often it transmits? After you finished, it was not pinging as often as when you were , in combat it seemed (on ride route).
My tracker is a Garmin inReach and I pay for the 10 min pings. The benefit of the inReach over my old Spot was the fact that I have satellite texting capability now. The brand new SpotX also can text but they released it about 3 months after I made the decision to jump ship.

I also carry a PLB with me on my person so that if I have an "incident" and wind up separated from my bike, as long as my arms aren't broken I can reach in my pocket and activate the beacon.

Another benefit of the inReach is that I can shut off tracking for a month if I won't be doing any riding and you don't pay for that month.

We were willing you to the finish. And it's still raining , a real nice slow rain too down here. Supposed to pick up by weeks end with a 50mph tropical storm for corpus coastal bend area. Sorry to say, looks like it's going to be a disaster with florence on the east coast.

It was fun watching from afar. Better you than me however
Thank you. It was great to have the support. My friend Jason is in Jacksonville at the moment and will be leaving tomorrow morning for the run to SD. I hope the rains aren't too bad for him.

Re: 50CC ride attempt

This is where we are holed up for two nights. This is an upstairs apartment over the garage / man cave / moto shop owned by Dean Lear and his wife Pam. They finished this all out themselves and are great hosts. It has a full kitchen, bathroom/shower, bed, couches, big screen, Bose sound system, etc.

They even put out mints on the pillows for us.

Dean is the founder of San Jose BMW back in the day. They were (still are) big in Daytona racing / Bonneville / etc. He's retired now but still keeps his fingers in stuff here and there. The Senior TT races at Isle Of Man a few weeks ago ran our forum sticker on several of the bikes because one of our forum members is a former wrench for that team whose riders include John McGuinness, a name some of you might recognize. The team bikes also ran some unobtainium pistons that Dean was able to procure for them. He's an all around good guy.

We first met in Show Low AZ when the AZ Beemers (another forum I'm on) had a RTE at his off-grid place where they had first retired to. They moved here to Ducktown TN because they grew tired of the snow. I'll try to get some photos of the house / property later and post them up.

Re: 50CC ride attempt

We should be out the door in about 2 hours. A 5 mile ride to NC, and then reverse course and head to Branson.

Re: 50CC ride attempt

Ugh. 14 hour day to get to Branson from the far SE corner of TN. I rode 4 miles east when leaving today so that I can color in the NC state on my map and then we turned around and headed NW. Hot. Humid. Just plain Ugh.

I told y'all that I'd have a good photo to share. Here is Mrs TT holding my old license plate above my signed (Hutto Pie Run in 2010) TWT banner and all of that is in front of a Texas T sign. Cool, huh?
