Weather looking super so far for the weekend of September 29. Streams may be a bit more challenging due to all the rain we are getting

Dang, its a veritable KLR rally now

I'm tentatively in for at least breakfast at this point.

Waiting to hear what my daughter's job says to her vacation request before I will know for sure.

Well, won't be able to make b'fast this time (or the last 1/2 doz times....) as the 29th is pre-ride meeting for the MS Ride to the River that I help support each year. Sorry you had to move it, Sander!

Barring bad weather, my daughter and I plan to meet for breakfast Saturday and hopefully follow y'all as far as Luckenbach.

Still can't decide if I want to bring the KLR or AT though

Coming from Houston to do the Three Sisters that weekend, but this sounds very tempting!

How do the roads compare, more or less technical?

Do you have the Butler Texas Hill Country Map?

https://www.amazon.com/Butler-Motorc...7371846&sr=8-8

It shows all the good paved (and some unpaved) roads in the area.

Thanks! No I dont actually, but will check it out. I dont think I've ever used a map, so may try to find the iphone app equivalent.

Do you have any idea how many people signed up for this trip so far?

The map has bars when your iPhone doesn't

Just my $0.02. Coming from the Houston area, you cant lose either way. On a weekend, the three sisters will be relatively crowded with lots of bikes, some riding very slowly, and lots of cagers out for a weekend ride. Not to mention the local constabulary. The three sisters is a fun ride for sure, but I think the rides that Sander hosts are much more interesting. These rides typically avoid the high interest, high traffic areas. Id expect some water crossings and a little dirt or gravel on the group ride while the three sisters is all pavement. There will be plenty of twists and turns on the group ride, maybe not as technical as the sisters but equally interesting if not more so. Compared to the Houston area, either ride will seem like a roller coaster or race track. Not hating on Houston area, I was born and raised there. Born in Baytown, raised in Anahuac, and lived 7 years in Dayton as an adult. Glad I moved to the hill country area for the fun riding.

Thanks for that feedback. I think you've changed my mind especially with the added dirt and water crossings. Im in!

Booked my stay at the Country Inn for the 29th.

Any recommendations where to stay near Medina? Ill be riding in from Houston on Friday evening.

A couple of years back, we had a TWT gathering at this place. I think everyone was pleased and management was great.

https://rvtexasresort.com. Tent, rv, and cabins avail.

Talking Re: Adventure Rider Breakfast Series - Sat 9/29/18 @ 9a Keese's w/ 2-Day ride - TARA/

These overnight rides, tend to be 470 or more miles or so in 2 days. True adventure stuff where you WILL feel a sense of accomplishment if you can make the entire route. I choose the hotel camping with the hot bathtub.

Yes I heard tonight that we should have a cold front by months end. Those look like good temps . Time to break out the closed weave textile riding jacket. Ps. Bring those jacket liners in case it's chilly in the mornings.

I know. I'm not sure if I even own riding gear for the 50's.

Gotta look around some.
