In touch with our feminine side?

It is all part of biking for most of us. You'd think my riding partners and I hated each other if you ever heard us razzing.

Re: Cruiser question

Somebody recently called my Wee-Strom a crotch rocket. I guess that's actually a compliment, since most of you seem to think the Strom is a bit of a stone.

That is what most folks think my Connie is as well. I actually received a parking violation warning tag on my bike today; it was parked in the hospital employee car pool section instead of the motorcycle section - there are signs posted but nothing marked on the ground to show where one section starts and another section ends - and for make of vehicle he wrote BMW. I guess the KMW stickers I have on the side really threw him off.

In reality they were actually paying you a compliment, they thought it was a Triumph.

You say crotch rocket like its a bad thing.

I think YoDocs chart has everybody nicely pigeon-holed.

I like maxi-scooters, to be totally honest, but also to be honest, no woman has ever had fantasies about a clean cut, respectable guy on a totally practical 400cc scooter.

Nah, his list is missing dual-sport / ADV / wannabe ADV (like my Versys) riders.

Re: Cruiser question

Adventure/Duel Sport bikes are just big "Dirt Bikes" as they are called by the unknown riding public. The other four or five groups of bike riders look at them with amazement and can't picture them having fun riding a bike like that. Well it's a different world out there and some just never go beyond their little circle in life, but for some it's an "ADVENTURE". I think the name "Adventure Bike" is a pretty good name for them.

Ya know, as soon as I hit "send", I was like "Ack!"
How did I not remember to include the fastest growing segment in all of motorcycledom and whose ranks I hope to join soon?
(Moto-Guzzi's Stelvio NTX makes me tingly where it counts. )

Re: Cruiser question

Ahh remember the 70s? How things have changed…

Café Racer = Standard turned into a sports bike
Harley = Cruiser
Pocket Rocket = Any RD series Yamaha
Rice Rocket = That taillight in the distance, generally a Kawasaki Mach III or H2
Rice Burner = All other Japanese motorcycles
Desert Sled = Any standard turned into a dirt bike
Chopper = Any standard made stylish and unsafe to ride
Dirt Bike = Any small displacement standard with a high front fender (including all motocross bikes)
Brit Bike = A standard with Lucas electrics. The only type of bike tolerated by owners of cruisers or rice burners
Mini-bike = Anything powered by a lawnmower engine (includes Mustangs)
Vespa = Any scooter regardless of brand. Ride of choice for hot chicks.

Once while gassing up my SV650 in Arkansas, a guy with 2 Harleys on a trailer asked me if it was one of those Buells.

English is a language where tone spoken dictates the meaning of the speaker. Thus why so much is lost in written communication.
Now, take most if your Asian languages and you'd better have your tone right or the whole of what you're saying is lost.

Re: Cruiser question

I stopped trying to educate the general population about motorcycles, especially those with a Harley in the shed being restored. Tdub has a 4-gallon Clarke tank with no logos, dual rectangular HID headlights, Walmart Rubbermaid top box with an eclectic collection of auxilary reflectors and lights, etc. Those that don't know wouldn't understand so my response to whatever they say is, "Unh-hunh." Those that do understand usually walk up and ask straight out, "What the 7734 is THAT?" I tell them it's a Yamaha and the next sentence they utter is, "Man, that looks like fun." Tdubbing might not be their cup of tea, but they get it. Those are folks with whom I'll chat a bit, answer their questions, etc. I've sold quite a few TWs to cruiser and touring riders. Yamaha owes me.
