No worries Scott, my head hurts too trying to make it work. Looking up stream of the posts in this thread, where you see the embedding working just fine, I would quote them and copy them and still no success, even when all things are equal. I about had myself convinced it was just my machine, as I tried it with Fire Fox, Safari & Chrome, all with the same results.

Odd for sure that earlier posts with embedding works just fine, and then present day posts the embedding is not working... I am sure you have bigger problems to solve, this is not a urgent issue.

Thanks,
Duke

Well... it bugs me It worked before and now it doesn't. Sometimes I think Google is like Microsoft, constantly tweaking things just enough to keep them from working with other stuff. My problem is that I am in no way an IT/Programmer type of person and have no real way to troubleshoot stuff like this. I have to depend on other people to figure it out. Right now, I am just waiting for a response on the VB support forum.

Re: How Do I embed Google Maps HTML code

Well... AdvRider seems to have a similar issue. I tried embedding a Google map in a post there with no luck. What I don't get is that it worked perfectly before and now it won't work at all. I have not had much luck getting help with this on the VB support site. I just went back there and posted a second request for help, so hopefully someone will eventually answer.

Re: How Do I embed Google Maps HTML code

Figured it out. Really, it's simple, and I suspected this was the problem when I started reading this thread.

Signed, Scott, the 30 year computer person.

When you have a coding problem, send me a PM so I get an e-mail (or just send me an e-mail with a thread link). I'll check into it. I haven't yet gotten through the thousands of posts the system tells me are unread, so everything looks new, all the time.

Re: How Do I embed Google Maps HTML code

Thanks Scott!!!

Using your solution I figured out how to edit the definition settings for the Automatic Media Embedding (AME) mod I have installed so that it will now recognize the https in the regular link. You don't have to use the embed code with the GMAP tags. Just grab the link and paste it into the body of your post and it will automagically display the map. I also bumped the display size to 800 X 600 to over ride the size settings in the link.

I also figured out how to edit the GMAP tag settings using your solution so that the embed code works now as well. I even figured out how to make it autocenter the map.

PM me your T-shirt size and an address. You get a free TWT shirt for being so helpful Just let me know which color you want, black or tan.

Re: How Do I embed Google Maps HTML code

No sweat. This stuff's easy for me. I also edited the earlier post to remove that extra crap, since no one needs to waste time with that now. Good job on fixing the addon. I wondered what you were up to when the maps started showing up.

My full address is in my details, really near Casa Tricepilot. I filled it all in so it's part of the searchable database. I'm an XL, and the lighter the better down here.

Any other problems I can check into? I'd be happy to try. Would give me something to do in the slow hours here at work (which there are a lot of laterly).

Nope. That was the only thing I was having trouble with... at the moment... The forum software is pretty good and they have a good support forum for admins as well. This particular issue was not with the forum software, but with an add on mod. Support for the mods, which are usually created by third parties, can be hit or miss. In this case it was miss Vbulletin is up to version 4 now and I am still running the last version of 3, so I suspect that the mod author is devoting all his support efforts to the version of the mod that works with VB4. Also, I think VB 5 is about to come out, so he may be working on a version of the mod for that as well.
