Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G MOVING?

Do I hear a motion to move this to Taco Cabana at the corner of MOPAC and Pamer Lane

It may be easier access and speedier to get to seeing how it is lunch.

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Come on Dave. You're selling us out to the corporations
We should keep it local.

Of course, I say that without any alternatives at the moment

In the end, as long as their are bike and TWTers, I'm in!

Mic

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Hmmm.... as this is your thread I'd say you get to choose where. Kurt's got some good places mentioned but I also like Mic's train of thought keeping it local.

I'm open....

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

I should be able to make this. There are alternatives aplenty, across from
Billy's is austin's wok and roll, home of the $5 lunch with drink included.

El mercado generally has quick service, trudy's has one of the best buffets
in town, EZ's acroos from central market. The hula hut on lake austin
allows a quick escape to the hill country. An advrider\probable twtex member
owns the upper crust bakery/sandwich shop @ 45th and burnet. Top Notch
and Threadgills are locally owned. For those who like spicy food, korea house has some excellent lunch specials.

hth!

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

It's TUESDAY. We need a decision if we're going to move or stay at Billys.

Curious..... was someone not pleased with that place thus the change request?

Food?
Parking?
Service?
Location?

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Billy's: I liked the patio seating. Parking could be an issue as we get more attendees. I didn't eat last time but the food looked good. Location is a bit off the beaten path with poor access the major thoroughfares; Mopac, 183, 71, etc. Access isn't an issue unless you are trying to fit into a lunch break. Having said all that, it doesn't matter to me.

Due to a VERY slow work week, I should be able to attend this one. Anywhere is OK, but I'm not a big fan of Taco Cabana.

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Put me down as a maybe. Will try and get away from the office, as I'm only a few miles away from Billy's.

Also open to other local places to eat. Places where you pay at the counter would be ideal, don't have to worry about splitting checks, etc.

There's also Hangtown Grill at the HEB shopping center on Burnet Rd/Koenig.

I have eaten at Top Notch only.
Top Notch
has no seating and as a rule is busy most days. Seating for biker scum that is, parking is spotty if your not way early.
Mighty Fine, have not been to this one. Outdoor seating, mutual bike admiration is part of a M&G They make a good burger that is I have been told.
Sams ?
Hoovers No outside seating! Well I can't determine if any exist.

Billy's on Burnet
it shall remain. We well have to develop a defensive parking strategy this time.
Taco cabanawas local, now owned by a New York company! When did that happen?

I ought to be able to make this one. The locations being discussed are all equally far from me, but my time isn't exactly at a premium just now so I don't mind...

Cheers,

Cool. I'll try to be there about 11:15. See everyone there Thursday!

I will have to miss this one, unless I can get out of a stupid vendor lunch.

I can't make this one as I'll be out riding in the hill country with my BIL visiting from CO. SPOT will be active if you want to watch from your desk at work. If the first couple of bikes that show grab the three spaces between the patio and the sidewalk you can get quite a few bikes in there. Just a thought. Enjoy.

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

I'm going to be in the office for a while today and it's moderately close. Just need to see if I'm really necessary for a telecon at 11am before I be sure.

Been planning to be there, but I'm taking Travis for his driving test this morning. Should be there, but it all depends on the timing for his test.

I'm out. Can't get out of my meeting and I'm still at the home office anyway.

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Missed this one. I'm going to have to try to make it to one of these. Next week is out, but possibly on the 18th, I can make it.

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Nice group of six today on a coolish temperature Thursday.

If 'ya missed it, you would have learned about the US Sub service, the Aussie "party boat' and how to outrun a nuke in the Army.

See you next week!
