Re: Beam Me Up... (The Beemer Thread)

TravelDiva and I made a trip up to Austin to Cuz'n Bob's for a little check out of her f650g and all is well. It will need the steering bearings replaced and the correct battery in it but other then that it checkout aok. Loved meeting Bob and will take our scoots to him exclusively for now on for anything I can't handle myself. Which is pretty much anything inside the motor...

We are riding straight through. We will be going 59 to 30 and when we hit Arkadelphia we'll ride 7 all the way to Harrison. Would prefer to stay of the interstate but it will save a lot of time on the long haul. If we run into weather will probably go through Little Rock and run 65 up.

Love my 2011 GS, sometimes consider a new GSA, but still sitting on the sidelines while they work out all the little fiddly issues. The '11 GS has been flawless.

Re: Beam Me Up... (The Beemer Thread)

Just curious, has anyone's valves actually needed adjusting on their '10-'13 boxer the first 24,000 miles. If not, when did they actually need adjusting? Mine were in spec at 11,000. It has 18,300 on it right now and runs fine.

I talked to a K1600 owner recently. At 24,000, all 24 valves were in spec.

Thanks for any pertinent information.

I'm the second owner, but records didn't show any adjustments prior to my ownership. I've done the 24K and 30K service myself. Valves didn't budge from 24-30.

Well, it took a while for the bearing kit to arrive but I completed the task of replacing the steering head bearings and am happy to say that the smile on TD's face after last night's ride made it all worthwhile. I did require the help of my good friend Randy at "Lonestar Metalwerx" to get the bearings off and pressed back on "properly" I am no mechanic by any stretch of the word and appreciate the help of a true master.

I'm planning on attending. October cannot be wasted sitting at home.

I've heard the same about K13s at 18k - no adjustments needed.

Am I right in assuming you will not be in Harrison this weekend?

Luv the Beemers too. Had a number of airheads. Decided I needed to get more modern so I bought a 89 K100rs. Nothing like riding something current. kenray in Katy.

AHHHHH!!!

These rumors just in from my latest visit to the Beemer shop.

This is the last year for the Rotax 652 based singles. It's a great power plant, but it is getting a little old.

The other rumor is that BMW will be coming out with a new bike targeted toward the entry level rider. 300-450cc, maybe a little something like this. We'll know in a couple of weeks.

All go things come to those who wait.

Re: Beam Me Up... (The Beemer Thread)

Had a R1150R and a F800ST. The F800 is the only bike to leave me stranded on the side of the road.....twice. I will probably not own another.

The 1150R was a great bike. Want to pick up another flat twin but an older one. Late 80s or early 90s.

(Semi-Off-Topic)

My Street Rod's left me stranded twice, too. Both times some dummy forgot the fuel gauge is garbage and didn't fill up based on the trip odo alone! Also, it's so much fun it's hard to think of anything except hearing that engine scream above 7K rpm. I figger my daughter will get to figure out what to do with it when I'm gone and hoping #2 G-son takes it; he's the motorhead, driving a 2014 Mustang GT before he turned 21 (and paying for it himself - reminds me of me but waaaaay better looking)!

Sometimes you get lucky; I have a '92 R100RT (resurrected, after sitting for a buncha (?10?) years, by CuznBob) sitting patiently by The Brick, just waiting for me to mount the new Clearview w/s (really nice kit, btw - made to order) and go register it and ride.

Re: Beam Me Up... (The Beemer Thread)

Looks like the G310 is the TVS BMW K03 that has been rumored for a few months. Having gone after the entry level adventure crowd they appear to be changing their focus to the street/sport bike crowd. The "G" is generally reserved for the "Gelande" dirt bikes and dual sports. Wonder if any future single will wear the "G" badge. Of course Hans and Franz are know for not following any rhyme or reason for the / series.

Spent some time looking at the S1000XR. I could be forced to buy a new motorcycle soon.

Re: Beam Me Up... (The Beemer Thread)

I'll jump in on this thread as a brand-new Beemer owner. Recently purchase a '15 K1600GTL.

(And after posting, realized I need to update my signature. Has it been that long?!?)
