Re: IMS in Dallas

Does anyone know FOR SURE if there'll be demo rides? What brands? Where? How to sign up?

It appears that IMS is the only one that knows for sure and YES they are having demo rides at the Dallas show per their website.

Re: IMS in Dallas

Sorry... I thought them saying that there were going to be demo rides on their website was them saying FOR SURE, they are having demo rides.

As for the other details, just ask the Houston boys how they did things. Last year when I was at the Houston show, the demo rides had their own parking lot to launch from, you just walked over there and signed up. It was more of an appointment style sign up system. The only ones that were doing it differently was KTM. You had to stand in line for whatever given motorcycle you wanted to ride.

Looks like it's going to be Saturday evening for me. Who wants to hit Twin Peaks (the mid cities location) or some such place after the show?

Re: IMS in Dallas

Well fluffernutter, they're gonna be the weekend before I take my vacation to go see some friends in College Station. If only they'd be the following weekend I'd side track up, and have an extra excuse to go visit friends in Waxahachie. I need to move out of Mexico so I'm not three days from anything cool.

Re: IMS in Dallas

I just thought I would pass this along for those that haven't seen the website or heard the news. The Ducati Stunt Team will also be at the Dallas show putting on stunt exhibitions. It's saying that Ernie Vigil (the guy on the Hypermotard video on Youtube) will be among the riders there.

Re: IMS in Dallas

looks like big 4, Harley, Can AM, Ducati doing exhibits....no BMW, Triumph, Piaggio, Aprilla, Moto Guzzi, MV, or Victory. Surprised I didn't see KTM listed.

No listing for test rides either.

No big deal if you live in DFW. But if you're getting a hotel and want to test ride, the info isn't really adequate. $5 off the ticket price means little.

I'd be very surprised if there are demo rides, but perhaps Dallas is one of the "select markets"?

Re: IMS in Dallas

I emailed some of the operational folks for the show about the demo rides and I'll let you know what I find out.

Edit: I just got off the phone with one of the operations coordinators for the show and she assured me that Dallas IS one of the venues that will have demo rides. She apologized because she couldn't tell me exactly which manufacturers would be in attendance, but the Dallas show WILL have demo rides.

Got an email this morning saying that Can-AM, Kawasaki and Yamaha (with their Star brand as well) will be giving demo rides.

That's a pretty small list. I know there were more in Houston last year. Were there more last year in Dallas?

There were far less in Dallas last year. I think the total number of demo bikes at the show was 0. If in fact they do demos this year, it will be the first year to my knowledge that they have migrated to N. TX.

Re: IMS in Dallas

Gonna try to go to Dallas Show. The Houston show last year was just lame. The parking
fees were outrageous. Need to support the sport if I can. The vendors are suffering.
