Re: I just bought me a Versys!

I'm up to 350 miles. I think I will be able to get to 600 miles by Saturday and get the first service done as I initially planned. I'm still waiting on my Zero Gravity screen. I hope I get it by this weekend as a cold front will be pushing through.
No pics yet. I know, I know.

Let us know how the screen does once you try it out. I haven't had issues with my factory one, but I'm always curious about others. I'm personally hoping the rain holds off this weekend.

Re: I just bought me a Versys!

Butte, if you want to try the Givi screen you're welcome to borrow mine. I used it for a couple seasons and have decided once and for all I'm too tall for it, too much buffeting.

Oh yeah, 3rd DFW owner of a 2009 blue checking in. Me, Butte, and Ed29 all have matching bikes.

As you can see from my sig, I've had quite a few bikes in the 6 years I've been riding. The Versys is a keeper. I'm actually picking up a 2nd set of wheels from a guy tomorrow, probably going to mount some Pirelli MT60R's so I can swap wheels and pretend I have a dirt bike.

Oh, check the kawasakiversys.com forums, they're a fantastic resource.

We should organize a TWT Versys meetup somewhere.

Re: I just bought me a Versys!

Gore, I've had my red 08 V since Fall of 09. Love it! Rode the 2012 TAR and recently the East Texas 450 with all those dual sport guys. I swapped the PR3's with MT60R's and except for some deep sand a loose rock, held my own pretty well with the DRZ, KLR and XR guys. Never went down once! Dave, I agree. A TWT Versys meet up would be great.

Re: I just bought me a Versys!

That looks great! Is the tank black? If so, it's a reverse 2 tone from the bikes in my posting and it really looks better!

Re: I just bought me a Versys!

Yes the tank is black. I am thinking about buying the radiator covers from the 2012 model. They're black as well. I think it would look pretty cool...

I got my Zero Gravity windshield. Totally worth it! It's pretty awesome!

586 miles! She's ready for her first service!

So far I average an even 50 mpg. What do you guys get?

Sounds about right. I sit around 45, but mine has my fat hieny to haul around, plus a full set of bags, plus I'm usually rolling around 6k rpm and I'm guessing you're normally below that right now for break-in.

Oh, and I like to do frequent stress-tests on my chain.

Any other Versys riders here on TWT?
I just finished a 1500-ish mile ride up in the northwest corner of Arkansas on my '09. The Versys is one of the most fun and versatile bikes I've ever owned. It does everything I want it to...better than I do.

I'm one! I put about 4500 miles (only 300 or so was dirt) on mine in just over two weeks this summer. Here's the route:

Loads of other photos here. I've not spent too much time on other bikes, but the Versys sure is fun!

Re: I just bought me a Versys!

1st service done (it's just an oil change) and I've been riding some more. I'm really surprised this bike isn't more popular than it is. It does everything quite well: fast when you need it, comfortable, good 2-up, fuel efficient, long range tank, etc. Is it an image issue? I used to think the first model was quite ugly...

Well, there ya go, I think you answered your own question.

One time I was stopped at a light, and a cowboy pulled up alongside me in an F250 farm truck. He looked at my bike and said, "That's the toughest lookin' bike I've ever seen." It was a real compliment to me.

No, the Strom holds that honor back when I wanted to upgrade from my KLR , I was in love with the versys , before they were at the dealers. I bought my V because I could not wait.

If you ever decide to come this way for some FM roads , shoot me a message , I`ll ride with you.
