I keep hearing how the maintenance requirements for KTMs are so much more intensive than Japanese bike and that KTMs are also much less reliable than Japanese bikes. So, in an effort to prevent total engine failure I resolved to do maintenance on my bike by the book. If it says change the oil every 10 hours, then, by God!, I'm going to change the oil every 10 hours, even if that 10th hour is in the middle of a ride. I'm not taking any chances!!!

Trail side maintenance

That was awesome. Loved it

Re: I'm just here for the mountains - the Great Divide Ride 2017

Hey All,
I have a few specific route questions. We routed around a few things last year that I'd like to add back in this year if possible.

Between Sargents and Ponca Springs, how was Marshall pass? Part of the road was washed out awhile back and I'm just wondering about the overall condition and difficulty.

Between Kremming and Steamboat Springs, was NF-185/NF-100 open?
That road was closed last year and we ended up taking CR-144 and CR-16 up into Steamboat.

thx

Marshall pass was amazing and pretty simple. I didn't see any washed out roads.

Awesome, thx. You didn't happen to notice if Camp O'Haver looked decent or not?

Where is Stoney Hill people are mentioning...between Cuba and Abiqui?

Is that the sweet *** lake you see when crossing over Marshall Pass? It looked like heaven to me. Let me find the picture.

Yeah it is. Duh, google images. Looks perfect. I'm going to plan several camping and hotel options for each day. Much easier to research at home than with spotty cell service and fading sunlight.

That maintenance interval is meant for KTM's intended use of racing or off road riding. It's ok to follow the 4X extended interval option for idling on dirt roads. Lol
