Leon, I definitely want to see the Trinity site. My feeble brain wants to confirm what I think you are planning: Camping at the Fort Stanton - Snowy River Cave National Conservation Area in the western of the two campgrounds that has a paved road into it.

Umm yes, one camp area is right off main road in and other looks like it is down a hike trail.
Not a lot of info on the website about the camping there.
Did figure out we should be close to the cave.

Re: Bonus pie! 4-1-17

I will always treasure the short test ride I had on it. The KTM 1290 Adventure S is an incredible machine. But, it's much easier to spend money than earn or save it. I will ride my RT if the cam chain guide gets here in time, otherwise I'll take the Tenere.

I have campsite #18 reserved at the Bottomless Lake State Campground Thursday night. Two vehicles are allowed if someone needs a place to camp.

The Trinity site used to be only open 2 weekends a year, one in spring and another in fall. Is this the weekend its open? Worth a visit, IMHO. Especially if you're going to be in the area.

Apparently you can actually ride to the UFO crash site in the Rosewell area. Roads are supposed to be rugged. Jeep trails really. You'll have to research how to do that.

The S10 might be the better choice if your going to see the Trinity site. I went to the Trinity site from 380 between Carrizozo and San Antonio. In the past years you could also gain access from the south at Holloman AFB (I think). I believe the roads on the northern end are all paved or decent gravel (I can't remember for sure - its been 10 years at least). The southern route I'm not sure about. Anyway, the S10 would be better able to handle the unexpected road situation.

I just checked my photos. I was there 10 years ago, but the roads from the north were paved.

You need to go to at least see the Trinity site. If you don't go on the bike, you should at least go in the car.

I think Robert's weather forecast was better than Jeff's.

Re: Bonus pie! 4-1-17

Leon, your bonus Pie Run at Pie town was a good idea. Maybe the wrong time of year. High Saturday 44, low 22, SW winds 25 to 35 mph. Winds could occasionally gust to 40 mph. I might get dirt in my eyes plus pneumonia.

You are the Pie Master. You make the rules. Have an alternate Bonus Pie Run in mind?
