Big bikes readily available in Philippines nowadays. And illegal imports not easily registered anymore. Of course if riding only out in the provinces nobody cares.

Ha Ha , yea , we wasn't 10 minutes in when that happened . The funny thing about it for me was , I sent him 2 or 3 txt a day telling him to make sure everything is tightened , looked over , etc etc , I told , I said you don't wanna be THAT GUY .
What was it , not even 10 miles from the start he earned his THAT GUY badge . I still poke him about that .

So what's the scam? To get you with your cash in a secluded location to rob you?

Doubtful, but I suppose it's a possibility. High risk though, and most scammers operate overseas purely remotely. More than likely after initiating contact they would eventually come up with some BS story to try and get you to paypal or otherwise send them some money.

The common one I've heard of is they will respond with a story about how they've had a huge amount of interest due to the low price, but need cash ASAP to deal with some *** story tragedy. They say for whatever reason they want to give you the chance to buy, provided you can send an immediate deposit to show you're serious since they are not available for a few days due to (insert tragedy). The hope is obviously you fall for it, send them the couple hundred bucks "deposit", and then take no action for a few days, which gives them time to transfer the money out of paypal (where you could make a fraud claim and get it back), and into remote accounts where it vanishes for good. They usually say you have to paypal the money as a "gift", not "payment", again for some BS excuse- it's because paypal doesn't pursue fraud claims if you don't pay their fees by marking it as a "payment".

Re: The Craigslist Thread

My buddy is selling this little guy - https://austin.craigslist.org/mcy/d/...301468205.html

He told me he would take several hundred dollars less than he is asking on the CL ad. Rode it today, started first kick. Needs some tlc, but could be a cheap fun little farm bike.

Those forks on that bike are off an early 90's KX motocrosser. You can tell by the blue anodized color. This was a fairly common upgrade for the old KDX's. It does not say the year of that bike but I would guess 88 or 89. Maybe worth 500 bucks, but worth nothing to me. Just too old and too easy to buy something 20 years newer for not much more money.
