Looking for maps of Chap Trail, anyone?

There is a small group of us wanting to ride the Chaperral Trail area Sunday. Unfortunately, none of us have been before and those that have are not able to ride with us. So please, if anyone has a link to mapping, let me know. Thanks for your help.

Re: Looking for maps of Chap Trail, anyone?

Hi, The atlas named "the roads of Texas" has a lot of the chapparal on it. Its on page 42 and is shown as a rialroad line that runs N.E From Merit to Paris. You get on in merit behind an old construction equipment yard on The NE corner of Hyw 36 and FM 2194 and just follow the abandoned RR line Thru Celeste, Wolfe city, Ladonia, Pecan Gap, when you run into some of the areas where the trail is blocked just work your way east and north on the county roads and keep your eyes open for the trail you will pick it up again within a 1/2 mile or so. Same thing when you get to the Towns just hop off the trail and go to the NE side of town and start looking for the trail. After Pecan Gap the trail gets more and more broken up and hard to follow but the country road exploring up in that area is outstanding. Be Careful on the bridges the small ones are easy but wnen you get to the big ones between Celeste and Wolfe city walk them first and make sure all the crossties are still there and you are sure you can make it.
I would come and ride with ya but Im gonna be up in Clayton on a dirtbike ride this weekend.
Have fun and enjoy the exploring! Dennis

No camping that I know of, it is an old railroad. There might be camping in one of the towns along it. If you look around in here there are several threads about it. Right now we are running about 86 miles round trip from Famersville. About 8-10 of it is paved roads. Once you hit Delta county we have been been turning around. Delta county the farmers now own it as private property. atleast there are gate and fences up and they claim to own it. In the future some of us will plotting some routes that take off in delta county of the gravel and dirt roads so we have a longer round trip.
Here is a ride coming up
