I started out at about 9:30, which is pretty late for me.
The air was still “cold” ….. the bike loves cool air, so
I wore down the rear tire a bit, enjoying the buckets of torque
That the pig puts out. :rider:
I took the detour to the “old” bridge, just to get a picture
Of the “Bridge Out” sign… and to remind MaxxTraxx
how much he had enjoyed that stretch of road leading
to the bridge.

A while later I noticed some 4X4 tracks going up a hill
beyond a “Road closed” barricade…… so temptation
got me and I had to go take a look.

I found a little 4X4 play park, about 20 acres where some
folks had / do have a lot of fun.
I rode about for a while before figuring out how to get round
the whole thing. The laps are not long, but boy I sure got
a good workout
There are some nice jumps and drop-offs and also nice
corners.

Anyhow, I continued up to the where the tornadoes touched
down earlier this year and got a few pics of it’s path where
it crossed the creek. Although the trees have started recovering
already, the destruction is still pretty evident.

Compare the unscathed trees in this shot to the next two
You’ll see most were snapped off at about 10’

Oh yes, here’s a shot of the guy who built his house partially
underground as a Anti Tornado measure… pretty neat

Well stopping the get the camera out every time I saw
something worth taking a picture of, got old pretty quick
so apart from a few more I took of the many tree canopied
roads…. That’s about it..

ok, how do I get to that 4x4 area? That looks like a blast.....

you working tomorrow??? we could go up there for a bit :rider:
and I haven't washed my bike yet.
Be warned though, the ground is very hard and very bumpy, It's
dried mud / clay. Guaranteed to pump your forearms in 5 minutes flat :eek2:
It's kinda disjointed but thats half the fun, putting it all together. :rider:

It takes about 30 to 45 min. It's up near where 121 and highway 5 meet.
but 4:00 will be too late for me. I've got to get the bike back into commute
mode for Tuesday... but how about next weekend. It's my last weekend before
my foot surgery... so I have to go out again :rider:
I'll see what I can pull off my GPS as far as tracks go and try to post a map of where it is.

Pull off the GPS info! 121 & Hwy 5 isn't all that far from me and I'd like to check it out.

Here's a map that you all can read hehe!
Be warned the area is not as big as it looks in the pics, after all it's a
4x4 track... not a moto-x track :trust:
okay, the road marked in green is the last one before the T junction with
HW 5. it exists for a new development going up there. Just follow it till
you get to the barricade (two of them) go through them both, down through the
little dry creek and turn onto the track that goes off to the left... just follow
it and you'll get to it. Keep your eyes open though, there are a lot of empty
cartridges laying around, looks like folks go up there to do a bit of target practice too.
In fact follow all the tracks, most of them are pretty short.... one leads by a
grave yard :eek2:

cool. Probaly not to far from me.....I will go see if I can find it tommoro after class. Next weekend sounds possible. group ride anyone?

Won't be able to do it tomorrow.... however, based on people/response that we get to the ride Wednesday, maybe we can check this out too :)

I am just trying to figure out where that is... Geographic ignorance sucks....

If you take 380 East to 75.... it's just North of that intersection... about
5 miles.

I'm gonna go try and find it today after my class, so probaly around 4....anyone want to go with me?

Looks like a good time. Not sure I would want to air out my BRP much, but could use the workout. Since I have to work Saturday, I am missing the Centerville ride. This could help make up for that. So, if my d606 shows up, I'm in.

nope, got busy with some HW. Havent had a chance to go find it yet.
Whos free sunday afternoon, say after 1?

I will run up there with you. It wil be fun to watch you do a onehanded seat grabber into the creek! Your going to try, right? :)

You gotta put your new rear tire on before that.

And this is the place I test drove my jeep when I bought it. I thought that was some extream wheeling :lol2:

My rear tire is 99% smooth.... 700 miles, thats all I got out of it. Actually
it was pretty much trash after 500 miles, not offering much offroad hookup.
My new tire only gets in on Monday...... Typical.
Sunday afternoons are hard for me. You guys need to take a camera and take
pics....... or Bryan, take your bike up there in the back of your truck and take
me with  as the camera man?????
This way I can get you there real quick and you get to have lots of pics :thumb:

that dosent sound like a bad idea....I am thinkign this place might work to have all the guys who want to work on thier dirt skills meet...but I have to see what the terrain is like and if there are any good corners out there....

After having done the run the other day I can say I actually know where that is now. If a guy found a couple dirt roads to get there it wouldn't be too bad. I slabbed it back from Merit so it isn't too far. A little farther for me than you lot but still reasonable. Plus given it has cooled off the knobbies won't just melt.

A few guys going round in circles berms build up pretty quick. After the ride this weekend I need serious practice rusty and lacking confidence. I felt better the end of the day but still not where I would like to be. I need a little spot like this.

I will PM tapntx he found an area similiar to this as well last weekend it would be nice to know where.
